Building Effective Health Club Promotions

If you’re really serious about expanding your health club in terms of clients or recognition, then you should consider creating a promotional campaign.

What Promotions can do for Your Business

Promotions can help boost your business in a number of ways. Probably the most common are promotions that aim to boost your number of clients. Aside from that, promotions can also help build your brand image. You can also introduce a new line of your services through your promotions.

Building an Effective Promotional Campaign

But how can you build an effective promotional campaign for your health club?

As with any campaign, your promotional campaign must be well planned in order to be successful. The first step in this planning process is the definition of the goal of your promotion. Do you want to increase your number of clients? How about building your brand image? Are you going to promote a new service?

Whatever your goal is, defining it is key to making an effective promotional campaign. After all, you cannot build just ANY promotion because that will create just ANY effect. Aside from that, knowing what your goals are will help you decide the best strategies to take in achieving these goals.

Would using above the line promotions – that is, using the media: TV, radio, publications, etc. – work for you? Or would below the line promotions – that is, direct mail, personal relations, products endorsements, among others – be more effective?

Knowing which among the options you’ll choose is also important because it will give you an idea of the kind of budget you need for such a promotion. It’s even more important if you are on a tight budget.

Some Example of Promotional Campaigns

As I mentioned earlier, promotional campaigns aren’t just for attracting new clients. You can also use it to build your company’s image. You can do this by running a public relations campaign. For example, you want your health club to be child-friendly. So run a few stories on publications and have events that build this image. Tell people how your health club promotes health in fitness for kids.

Let’s have another example. But this time, let’s focus on building your company image while at the same time attracting new clients. Let’s say your health club is suffering from an image that your services are cheap despite the fact that your equipment are new and your trainers are fantastic. What you can do then is hire somebody – preferably somebody popular – to endorse your health club. It will create an image in people that if this famous person likes this health club, then that would be good enough for them as well.

So you see, there are many ways on how you can have effective promotions for your health club. But remember that it takes a lot of planning and knowing what your goals are to make your promotions really effective. Otherwise, you’d be on a losing battle where your pockets are left dried and empty.
