Everything You Need to Know About Personal Trainer Business Cards
A Personal Trainer Business Guest Post by Joe T.
As a trainer in the personal training business, it is your responsibility to keep marketing yourself as often and as to many people as you can. You would be stupid to only appreciate marketing when you are already losing clients and realize you have no new clients coming in.
One cheap way you can market yourself is by handing out business cards to the people that you meet. You warm them up by telling them what you do and hand them your card, asking them to call you if they’re interested in training under you.
So if you don’t have a business card yet, let me give you a lowdown about cards so you can get started and have cards of your own right away.
Why You Need a Business Card
I mentioned earlier that you can distribute your card to anyone who’s interested in what you do. Unlike brochures where you need a different one for your different clients or the places you will distribute them, you can hand out cards to your colleagues, to people you meet at conventions and people who you just met and are interested in getting a personal trainer.
Aside from the fact that you can hand out your card to practically anyone you meet, the best thing about business cards is that they’re a sort of portable advertising. These cards usually fit in a person’s wallet so you’re sure that they carry your name everywhere and they’ll most likely see it when they open their wallets.
Then there’s the obvious reason about why you need a business card. You want people to contact you, right? And though you could tell them where your gym or studio is, they might forget it. So when they finally decide to train under you, they no longer know where to find you. Your business card is a handy quick information guide of sorts that can tell people what you do and what you specialize in, aside from your usual name, address and contact details.
Producing Your Business Card
Business cards are cheap to produce; cheaper if you know how to do it yourself. Let’s first cover the DIY option. There are desktop publishing programs that enable you to design your cards, from the size, to the font, logo and pictures that will appear there. Once you are satisfied with your design, you can then print it on a paper board and voila, you now have your own business card.
But if you don’t have the time or prefer to have a professionally-designed card then you can have it produced for you by shops that specialize in making business cards. A pack of 200 cards will cost you less than 10 bucks which is all too good an investment when compared to the potential income that handing out these cards give you.
While some card companies give you the option to create cool cards of different sizes or design (metal cards, odd-shaped cards, etc.), I suggest you stick with the traditional one. Why? Because it’s portable and it fits into anyone’s wallet. If they’re too big or oddly-shaped, people might decide to leave it at home which defeats the purpose of your handing them out the card.
So if you don’t have a business card yet, go now and have it made or produce your own. It’s cheap and practical. And just imagine the money you’re losing just because you didn’t give people your card.
