How Do I Write a Good Fitness Sales Letter?
You have many different options when you want to spread the word about your fitness business. You can advertise on the newspaper or the web. But advertisements are somewhat impersonal. You can also offer free consultations to people interested in joining your fitness club. But although it lets you sit and talk one-on-one with your prospect, it’s time consuming.
So where do you find the balance between immense reach and the personal touch? Write your prospects a sales letter!
When writing a sales letter, you have two options: either you hire a copywriter to do it for you or you do it yourself. Copywriters cost thousands of dollars to write a sales letter. So if you’re on a tight budget, I suggest you do it yourself instead.
Not sure how you will do it? Let me lay down the basics for you.
Before you even write a sales letter, you must first of all know who you are writing to. Just like any form of letter, a sales letter will only be truly effective if you know who you are sending your letter to. And by that, I don’t mean only their names or addresses.
To make them really interested in your offer, you must know what it is that they are really interested in. Are they looking for a dedicated personal trainer? Are they concerned about their physical appearance? Find out what their needs are. You can do this by doing a simple survey or a market research.
Now that you know what your prospects want, place what they want at the core of your offer. They want to look great? Then make that the central message of your sales letter. Tell them how you will make them look great. Show them how you will do it. If you can make your offer irresistible without creating unnecessary hype, then do it, by all means.
But what if your competitors are offering the same thing you’re offering? What if your readers are having doubts about your offer? Once you have addressed their needs, you must also eliminate their doubts and questions about your offer. Let’s say you are opening a new branch in an area that already has several fitness gyms. What you should do then is write a sales letter that will show your prospects why your gym is better than the ones that they already trust.
By the way, when you tell your prospects why you are the best option they have, don’t just list down the features that your gym has especially when they’re filled with industry jargon. Instead, offer your prospects benefits because they will always ask, “what’s in it for me?”
Frankly, they don’t give a damn about you or your business – they only care about themselves. So instead of telling them that you have a state-of-the-art treadmill that lets them burn more calories, tell them how they can get fit by running on the treadmill for less time. Letting them burn more calories for less time means they can have more time for other activities rather than spend countless hours in the gym.
Now that about covers everything that will help you make a good sales letter. To wrap it up, remember the following when writing your sales letter:
- Know the people you are writing to and what their needs are.
- Addressing their needs should be your core offer; if you can make the offer irresistible without resorting to hype, then do it.
- Eliminate their doubts and questions; establish yourself as the only solution to their needs.
- Always keep in mind to tell your readers what’s in it for them; they don’t care about you or your business but themselves.
