Running regular promotions for your business will help create awareness of it and make sure that that awareness doesn’t wear off immediately. And although most business owners think that the goal of promotions are only for attracting new clients, other promotions aren’t that straightforward in achieving that goal.
Sure, you can attract new clients by giving away discounts or free memberships. However, the truth of the matter is that, not all people will take the bait that easily. Some people need to be convinced further that you’re fitness club is for them. They need to be assured several times before deciding to choose you. And that’s a process you don’t always achieve by shoving invites down their throats.
So what do you do? You take a more subtle approach at your promotions. I’ll show you some examples that take the subtle approach so you’ll have an idea of what I’m talking about.
Public Relations
Public relations is about building an image about a product, which in your case, is your fitness club. But you don’t simply tell people that you’re pro health and all that. It takes more effort than that. Rather, it takes a really good story that will help create an image of your business in people’s minds.
How do you do this? One way is by taking up a certain advocacy. One of the current problems in our society right now is obesity, and that’s a problem that your business can solve. What you do then is run a public relations campaign that paints a picture about how you help people fight the cancer of obesity in the society. Create programs that help people become live healthier and longer lives.
Over time, your story will stick into the public’s minds. And if you create a good image around your business, people will trust it more. And with your battle against obesity, who will people think about first when they choose to be healthy and not obese? Your fitness center.
It takes a while to create an image, but if you are true to that image, then it will certainly get you more clients in the long run.
Product Placements
If you can afford it, or if you know somebody you can work a deal with, then product placements can also be a good and subtle approach at promoting your business.
Product placements usually works this way: you create a deal with an executive to place your fitness club in the context of a movie, TV show or news program. The result is an indirect promotion of your product on screen.
But product placements aren’t always presented that way. You could also offer to sponsor the gym training of the actors in a movie, for example. This approach is even subtler since you aren’t really in the movie, but rather behind the scenes, but it can also be done.
Want subtle ways of promoting your fitness club? I’ve only show you two so far, but try to brainstorm with your friends or business partners and try to find out how you can expand your business’ reach in promotional campaigns such as the ones I mentioned.
