Will Your Fitness Center’s Business Plan Work? Try It Out for Yourself!

Want to know if the business plan you made for your fitness center works? Take it out for a test ride on the real world.

You see, a lot of people are so afraid of screwing up all their plans that they get paralyzed and decide not to do anything at all. But if you really want to know if you’re going to screw up or not, you got to try it out for yourself.

Business plans are just guides on how you will run your business. You need the real world to actually do everything and run your business. So what if things don’t turn out as you expected? Only one of the two things will happen: you get either a sweet surprise or a nasty one.

It’s great if it’s a sweet surprise. But knowing exactly what made it work is something else. The same thing goes if you screw up. You have to find out what you’re doing wrong even before you drive yourself to bankruptcy.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that you should be reckless in putting up your business plan. All I’m saying is that it’s okay to screw up and that you shouldn’t be afraid of screwing up.

But you know screw ups can be pretty expensive when it comes to business. So what you should do then as a businessperson is to minimize your risks and their probable effects on your fitness center and your pocket if you do screw up.

Make sure that the concepts and strategies on your business plan are sound and solid. Let’s take your target market, for example, because this is where most business owners fail.

You can assume all you want about your clients, but only a solid scientific study will tell you the facts. Think you can convince them to pay you a thousand dollars for a monthly membership fee? You could assume that they would – and it’s easy to assume when you’re talking about that kind of money – but you could end up dead wrong and be left with no takers on your offer.

Now what if you do screw up? It’s perfectly normal for you to feel frustrated or depressed and give yourself the time to wallow in these feelings. But be sure to pick yourself up – and soon.

Once you’re done with the drinking, crying, or whatever thing you do to cope, try to face the problem rationally. Ask yourself what you did wrong and answer yourself honestly. Come up with another strategy and move on. Better yet, be wiser this time and ask for a consultant’s help if you haven’t done so in the past.

Business plans are like that – they’re just, well, plans. And as with other plans, there’s a chance that they’ll get sidetracked. What you should do then is be prepared for events like that. But when you get sidetracked, pick yourself up and try to build a better business than the one you had before.

* Results are not typical. Advertised results are only typical of people who worked their tails off and followed every one of the fitness marketing strategies and personal training tips that I outline on my site to really explode their fitness business. Also, if you click on a link on my site to someone else's product, there's a good chance I'm makin' a profit off of it, probably even a steep one.
