How To Use Myspace to Market Your Health and Fitness Business
Here's a Myspace strategy that works extremely well and can get you many new clients for your personal fitness training business.
Now, you're going to want to outsource this to somebody else, because this can be time-consuming, and the last thing you want to do if you're trying to move your
business forward is be spending your time on Myspace.
And beware, there are many distractions on Myspace and many temptations to lure you away from the job at hand. So definitely outsource this. The last thing you need to be doing is cruising profiles of the opposite sex, and if you're a guy, just know that many of those profiles that you think are of some attractive member of the opposite sex was really just made by some guy trying to drive you to his porn sites. You've been warned…
What you want to do is create a profile that is more personality-based than business-based. So if you're a chiropractor, you don't want your profile picture and name to be a picture and name of your business so much, go more for your headshot and maybe Dr. So-and-so, something along those lines, so it's more of a personality based.
And then what you're going to do is add friends in your geographical area, anywhere from 10 to 25 miles around your business focusing on the your ideal customer profile when it comes to thing like age, sex, career and so on…so make sure to include those things
Now, there's software that can do this for you, but I think it goes against the Myspace Terms of Service, so you can either enter at your own risk, or you can pay someone to add friends one at a time for you.
And then what you're going to want to do is, for the highest response, I suggest sending a personal note anytime you send a friend request to the person you're requesting to be your friend.
Just say "Hi, I noticed you're into ____ " or whatever, but it should be personalized. It should definitely not appear to be some kind of template cut-and-paste kind of deal.
Then what you want to do is, once you've collected a small army of friends in your area, you want to send out bulletins on a regular basis, driving your friends from the bulletins to your blog, and on your blog you want to give away tons of killer content. Now, you can also send out offers in the bulletins, but I wouldn't make all your bulletins just an offer for your services, I would mix it up between giving away killer content with the occasional offer mixed in.
Now this is key, you're going to want to have it done on a systematic basis. Obviously outsource to someone else who does this X number of times a week and posts these different bulletins for you. The key is to build relationships and trust with people. Now, let's say you're a chiropractor or a personal trainer. The majority of the people aren't going to immediately respond to your bulletins. What will happen is that they've seen your bulletins over time and gotten to know you.
Say you're a chiropractor, well, when they hurt their back, you've got the top of mind awareness, because you've been giving them these killer free tips all the time to keeping a healthy back or whatever.
Or if you're a personal trainer when they want to get fit they'll — you'll be the top in mind because you've been giving them this killer fitness tips on a regular basis.
This is one of many personal trainer marketing strategies that works extremely well on Myspace.
The keys are:
1. Outsource the work
2. Do it on a systemized basis
3. Think in terms of giving now and you'll definitely get back later, don't be too hypey, build relationships.
4. Remeber it's a numbers game and takes time
