Video Marketing Strategy for a Personal Training Site

A Fitness Business Marketing Post by Chris McCombs

Adding video to your personal training website is extremely important today if you want to convert a lot of visitors into clients. People are much more prone to watch a video on your site than to read your copy.

I suggest carrying around a little Flip video or other type of small video camera with you at all times, so whenever one of your clients tells you about the great results you’ve helped them achieve you can capture it on video.

It allows you to

  • Get your prospects attention
  • Agitate their pain
  • Tell them the story of why and how you created your service
  • Show them how your service relates to their needs
  • Back up your claims with proof by showing them testimonials that are much more believable than testimonials that are just in text
  • Show examples of your training
  • Prompt your viewer into action

I suggest you follow a formula like this:

1. State your prospects problem

2. Agitate the problem

3. Introduce yourself and your service as the solution

4. Back up your claims with testimonials

5. Tell them what to do next ( also known as your call to action)

This formula is similar to the famous copywriting formula of Problem – Agitate – Solve… which is real simple. State your prospects problem, agitate the hell out of it by really getting to feel the pain that the problem is causing them, and position your service as the solution to that problem.

Watch this video which is on one of my own personal training sites and it should give you some good ideas for your own videos ( notice how it follows the formula)

  5. Thanks Chris. Since you give great info, if you are interested, i will be getting the new flip mino for $230 but it's HD dude and awesome. great reviews on cnet also. By the way, I doubled my email list today with a silly contest for my clients that generated 55 solid leads and all I have to give back is a free 30 minute phone session. It was a smart move so if trainers want to use that strategy- take it. Im going to to keep doing it to over and over again. I have some info that your followers might like. 12 years in the biz of training and nutrition. 1 man show at 29 years old – if you ever want to do an audio with me, it would be my pleasure. If not, continued success and look forward to more stuff from Mr. "Killer!"

  6. By the way, the thing you did with Amanda Vogel – killer – I bought her "How to write winning Queries" also. I suggest to all your followers to check her out on twitter. You and her did a great informative job. Small world
