I'm Tripping Out On This
I just posted this in a private forum I belong to, but thought I'd share it with you guys as well…
From 1985 to 2000 I was hooked on a bunch of drugs
Sobered up 8 years ago tomorrow
In 2001, 2002 and 2003 I worked jobs I HATED and made about 10k - 12k a year - I worked in like warehouses and stuff… UGH!!!
A few years ago I knew NOTHING about the internet
I have total ADD for technical stuff
My first email account was about 4 years ago
Now this is where it gets cool…
Today -
- I have a local personal training business and I get every single client online. I have 15 personal trainers doing ALL the training and the business takes less than an hour a day on my end and about an hour a day for my assistant. It earns me a nice six-figure income and it's from the internet
- As of this writing this blog has a three month Alexa of 103k and often times gets days below 50k or 60k - My highest traffic day to the blog was 8039 people - all from free sources. In the blog I basically talk a bunch of smack, tell funny stories, share some Internet marketing secrets and have a good time. I get a ton of $197 per hour consulting clients from this blog alone
- Two days ago I launched my first membership site http://www.marketannihilator.com/ - It did $50,000 in two days. Much of it is in $197 per month recurring memberships.
In each of the last two days I made more income than I did than I did in either the entire year of 2001, 2002 or 2003… when I had full-time jobs I couldn't stand.
That's more in one day than I made all year a few years ago
And today I love what I do
I have an amazing and supportive beautiful wife
I have a one year old daughter and a two year old daughter - they're the best ![]()
I ride a 2008 Harley Davdson ( wanted one since I was a little kid)
I have OCD
Today, instead of being obsessed with dope, smuggling weed and a bunch or other negative stuff… I'm obsessed with Internet Marketing ( or let's call it passionate)
I'm hooked on Stompernet, Eben Pagans stuff, Frank Kerns stuff, Dan Kennedys stuff and John Carltons stuff
Today I have AMAZING friends in my life… most are total ADD/OCD Internet Marketers like myself
Today I still buy the new Metallica album, just like I bought "Kill Em' All" back in 83' ( still think they dropped the ball after "And Justice For All…", which frigging rocked by the way)

My favorite movies are still Shawshank Redemption, GoodFellas, Heat, Fight Club, Good Will Hunting, Boogie Nights and Pulp Fiction
I still can't stand to work for anyone but myself
Refuse to wear a suit more than one day out of a thousand
Still cuss a lot (Just not around my daughters)

Today, life is pretty damn good
Having a jacked up past makes ya appreciate the little things… like having a house and a car (=
Lot's of people would tell me I'm out of my mind to admit all that stuff about my past… but I'd rather admit it and have someone wrote me off because of it than be fake and feel like I'm hiding something.
If someone doesn't wanna do business with me cuz' of that stuff… screw em… they ain't my target audience… there's plenty of suit-and-tie wearing "been perfect all their life" gurus for them to go to.
Also, not sure if you knew this…
There's a marketing tactic called "making a damaging admission".. when you admit something most people would hide, people automatically trust you more… cuz they think "hell, if he'll admit that, he's gotta be trustworthy"
And, ya know what's crazy… I know a handful of multi-millionaires who were either homeless at one point or in prison or both
The serial killer, bumb, heroin addict, Olympic athlete, and multi-millionaire all have that same personality… it's just where they focus it
When you take a passionate person who was focused on negative things and then re-direct that focus to something positive they are friggin' UNSTOPPABLE
Life is rockin' like a friggin' Pantera album
I'm totally trippin' right now

You killed it in that thing
Dude,
Difficulties in our lives, are put there to help us appreciate the many joys that follow. You deserve the success you've achieved buddy and you have an awesome story!
Thanks for sharing man!
Sean
Hah, I didn't know we were even more alike. I also have OCD, you just have a lot more money than me and more success. You deserve it all, I just to hope to get a little before I'm all done. Much love, bro.

Hey Chris,
congrats on the launch, and as always, another great post to make people think about what they can do, instead of worrying about what they can't do.
Thanks,
Dave

Chris,
Dude, that post was on fire! Like I told you before, I respect you more and more each time you open your DAMN mouth.
I appreciate your honesty and your ability to be yourself without caring about what anyone else and what they have to say. That is an incredible gift and I can only hope to strive for the lifestyle that you are happily living right now!
Powerful stuff, thanks again for the M-A-J-O-R motivation!
LET'S GET IT!

Hey Chris,
Your rags to riches stories are what life is all about. If you make it BIG, then proclaim it to the world!
Glad your annihilator program rocked, should finally start to see some kick **s SEO juiced web sites out there.
I love and also have OCD about SEO, social marketing, blogging. And I owe it all to Pushkar my IT guy, Jill Whalen and Matt Cutts.
BTW- This blog is awesome!
Chris, you have done great for yourself and I am so glad that you have focused on positive things. I too had jobs I could not stand. I too have an addictive personality… most find that hard to believe but I drank to much in college. And when I first started in this business I made about $10,000 per year. I was unemployed at one point and I slept on a chair for about six months at a guys house I did not know well. I had no money, was broke, but my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) stuck with me and I will always love her for that. Now things are much different and I am so thankful for you and your success.
Chris…what a great freakin' post. I love hearing from you, and you just got added to my RSS feed. I really appreciate all your feedback on my project!
Take care,

Congrats on surviving annihilator launch week. Hadn't heard the tactic "making a damaging admission", but the principle makes sense. I agree that transparency is generally a good thing.
-although-
Rocking to Metallica, by no means, is a damaging admission.
hey chris,
i agree with you. part of the reason i'm successful where i'm at is that i'm REAL with my clients. the market annihilator videos were awesome and i will one day be as successful as you. many people have the internet and have other opportunities in their lives, but some think outside the box or what not, and use it to their advantage to make a living. congrats on everything. 'everyday i'm hustlin'…everyday i'm hustlin'…
twork it out baby,
Kri
Hey guys, thank you so much for the awesome comments
I don't even know what to say (=
Congratulations Chris.
You've worked hard and studied even harder.
You are a perfect example of what can happen
if you take massive action.
Right on, brother!
P.S. It's great to see a local boy doing well.
That's the energy that's keepin me goin' with vision… thanks for sharing!
Hey Chris,
Thanks for being so transparent and real man. I am inspired by this because that's where I'm at in my life and career intersection.
Just got back from masterminding in Florida with Pat Jim and Nick. We talked about you…all good of course.
Hey man, I'm looking forward to Annihilating my market!

Congrats on your success Chris. You've definitely earned it. I'll see u again soon at another seminar.
Hey Chris, I almost missed this one, I am glad I read it. I have been clean from dope and everything you can think of for 17 years now. I truely understand where you are coming from. I believe we have so much in common except I do not make the money you make.
I find myself spending so much time online now and in my personal training business that I know I am close to getting that big break through. I have to admit Chris you got it going on, and I want the same! I managed to get 2 of my websites on the first page of Google and I do get a lot of hits from them. If you google Personal Trainer in Baltimre I am on the page at least 2 times.
The thing is now I want to train less and have more trainers training for me. I know I need to manage my time better and get out of my facility and work on the business more. Maybe you can help me fix this.
Thanks in advance! Kenny
Thank you so much for the kind words everyone
I can't express how awesome it makes me feel to hear from each and every one of you
Kenny - congrats on the 17 years… that is awesome bro ( I think you're just about at the tipping point where the flood gates open and results are magnified by 10x in a short period of time )
Thanks again each of every one of you, I mean it
Chris McCombs
Congratulations on 8 years Chris!
nice words mate. I love the personality you put in your articles. Great example.
LOVE it, Chris! I just recently quit teaching elementary school full time so that I could work for myself and have a career that allows me more time to be a mom. I LOVE reading success stories such as this! It's what keeps me going during this first year of starting out on my own (AND the fact that I don't have to answer to anyone else! LOL)
Congrats on the success and the launch - This life stuff is great isn't it -
