How to Sell Multiple Services From Your Website

Guest Post by Justin Goff

This article is a guest post from Justin Goff. Justin runs GymJunkies.com and also does website coaching for personal trainers.

Everyone is familiar with Chris' SocalWorkout site and the great success he has had with it.

But what if you have multiple services to offer and need to send your clients to a site for more information?

A direct response site is tough for this because with a direct response site you are promoting one service or product. In direct response you also want to hide your navigation links, so that users don't click all over the place (you want them to read the copy)

However if you have multiple services to offer, then stashing your navigation links at the bottom isn't going to help you much. If you offer personal training, kickboxing, bootcamps, youth training and other services it's awfully tough to show each of those services to someone through a direct response site.

Of course you can rank for each of them, but what if you need to send someone to your site to check out your kickboxing program and all they can see is a long sales letter about personal training?

Here's my solution…

Let's use my friend Mike Hanley's site as an example. He's a personal trainer in New Jersey and his site is located at TheTrainingStudioNJ.com.

This is a beautifully done site, and I highly doubt Mike would want to scrap it and switch to a straight direct response style.

So what we need to do is write killer copy and branch the site out by building a new page for each service he offers. This way visitors can find each service he offers from the homepage, and we'll also rank high in Google for those individual keyword terms.

Ex… We'll have a page for each of the following

  • Personal Training
  • Nutritionist
  • Bootcamp Classes
  • Powerlifting Coaching
  • BodyBuilding Gym
  • Kettlebell Classes
  • etc…

And then we'll also target each of these pages to local keyword terms such as Bootcamps in New Jersey.

How to use the homepage

The homepage is where the biggest difference will be. We want to use the homepage to direct people around our site to the different services we offer. We can't go right into our personal training ad copy like Chris does on SoCalWorkout.com because we have other services to promote as well.

So the homepage will be used to direct people throughout the site.

My first suggestion for Mike's current page, would be to use a better headline to grab their attention. No one is looking for a "health based solution". People want to lose fat, build muscle and make their friend's jealous… My suggestion would be to use a pretty standard headline and incorporate some keywords into it…

ex… Renegade Trainer helps New Jersey men and women to lose body fat and build lean muscle in just 3 short workouts per week…

Something along those lines will work… And then under that we will roll in with a brief intro sentence and maybe a testimonial/before and after pic.

Right after that you should start to tease the services you offer… I would keep your most profitable/popular services near the top of the list. SO it would look something like this…

  • Personal Training - Have you ever quit a workout program because you weren't always motivated or there was no one to hold you accountable? I'm sure you have, I know I have many times. It's an easy mistake to make. As a trainer I will help motivate you and keep you accountable so that you'll get the smokin' body you want in just 8 weeks… Click here to learn more about the best personal trainer in NJ
  • Boot Camp For Women - Who wants to workout on their own in some boring meathead infested gym? Not me! Our Boot camps for women are designed specifically to get you that lean and toned look, in a fun and upbeat group atmosphere. We also have the latest top 40 music like NeYo, Rihanna and Justin Timberlake blasting to pump you up and keep you motivated… Get more information about our Marlboro NJ boot camps here…

OK so a few quick pointers here…

We want to have some good copy and entice them to click through to your specific page about that service. In the example above, Mike doesnt have a page about these particular services so I just linked ot his homepage.

But what you want to do is link to the specific page on your site and then use the keywords you want to rank for as well in the anchor text of the link.

Add in teases for the rest of your services, and then at the bottom conclude the page with your contact information in big lettering.

ex… Call NOW for a free trial session of any of our services 614-987-0983 (my assistant Jamie should answer)

Final Thoughts

There's more than one way to do your fitness site. If you have a great designed site already and have multiple services to offer, I would give this way a shot. It's worked very well for 3 of my coaching clients who are dominating their local niches. I think it will work for you as well

Great ideas. It's good to know that the only way isn't to have one site dedicated to each niche. I have been told that this is the only way and that I need to change from having everything on the one site. Now I know I just need to begin rewording some stuff and I can go from there

Justin;

Great post.
Really good information.

I have a question;

How would you handle the internal pages like Personal Training, Nutritionist, Bootcamp Classes, etc…?

Would you keep the site structure the same for each page, including the navigation at the top…

or

Would you use a sales copy page, like Chris uses for his socal workout site…

or

Would you turn each one of these services pages into a squeeze page?

Thanks again. This was one of the best posts I've seen in awhile.

Brian,

I would keep your structure throughout the site as similar to the homepage as it can be.

Lots of text and pictures at the top of a site are never good for conversions, but if youve already got a site like that, then you just need to work with it until you have more money for a redesign.

You can still write good copy within a page without it looking just like a typical sales copy page. THe principles are all the same, grab the attention and guide them towards taking action.
