How To Become a Fitness Information Marketer

I’m gonna tell you about the first things you need to do if you want to become a fitness information marketer… but first, I wanna tell you why info marketing is probably the coolest gig in the world.

What I mean by “info marketing” is having your own line of information products… like fitness videos and dvd’s, audio programs, ebooks, books, manuals and membership sites and stuff ( like my buddy Vinnie’s stuff over in the picture on the right)

I don’t know one info marketer who would trade it for anything in the world… seriously… being an info marketer kicks ass

Here’s just a few of the reasons it’s so damn awesome…

1. You get paid for what you know… people will actually PAY YOU for your information

2. You create an info-product once and you get paid over and over… you don’t need to show up anywhere at anytime… you don’t need an alarm clock… you don’t get paid by the hour… you just create the product, set up the cart, drive the traffic and let it sell itself over and over

3. There’s more free time in info-marketing than any other gig in the world… seriously, you probably know I used to be a pretty successful marijuana trafficker ( back when it was illegal like everywhere except Holland pretty much)…

I had a TON of freedom when I was in that business ( except after I got popped and served some time) … well the freedom of being a drug trafficker doesn’t even come close to that of being an info-marketer… you work where you want, when you want and as little or much as you want ( and what’s crazy is… creating these products is super quick and easy… often times just taking a few hours)

I typically take a month or so off a few times a year and it doesn’t hurt my income at all… in fact sometimes my biggest months are those when
I’m on vacation… and even when I do work it’s rarely more than a few hours a day… sometimes I’ll put in long hours… but it’s pretty rare

My bud Bedros… that dude kills it… and he BARELY works… I mean he goes out to lunch… draws a few things on his whiteboard… tells his assistants to do this and that… makes cute little videos every once in a while… but I doubt he puts in more than 3 or 4 hours a day on most work days… and rarely works more than 4 days a week

Vince Delmonte… he’s another dude who has SO MUCH freedom… he’s always traveling… going on crazy adventures… and pretty much doing whatever he wants

Craig Ballantyne… he’s another dude that always seems to be off traveling

Info-marketers have freedom like trust fund babies… except info-marketers create their freedom out of thin air doing something they are
passionate about.

4. Info Marketers are renegades… we play by our own rules and create our own realities… it’s the coolest group of people in the world… and once you’re in you feel like you’ve discovered some secret society that only about .000001% of the population even know exists

5. You can typically keep about 80-90% of your profits because the overhead is so low

6. You end up developing a cult-like following of fans who will buy pretty much EVERYTHING you put out

7. Most info marketers I know make between a HIGH six-figures a year and seven figures… some making a HIGH seven figures ( I know a few who
make nine figures a year, and tons who make eight figures a year.. MUCH more than I do… I’m lazy and don’t wanna work too much, those dudes
typically put in 40 or 50 or even more hours a week… which is far beyond my taste… but hey… they’re killing it)

Here’s my first experience with info-marketing…

My first information product launch, the Market Annihilator, made over $50,000.00 in it’s first week with over $300,000.00 in billable memberships to be paid out over the next 12 months… that’s more than most fitness trainers make all year, and more than many make in their entire career, let’s just say I was hooked. ( And my fitness training business was still making me money this entire time)

8. Everyone else ends up thinking you’re real cool, it’s weird… I mean you’ll have a few haters, but besides them ( and most of them are
just jealous)… there’s a weird level of respect you get when you make a high six or seven figures a year working a few hours a day marketing your
own line of ebooks, dvd sets, cd courses, mastermind groups and membership sites…

It’s like your treated like some kind of hero or celebrity or something ( when deep inside you know you’re just an average knuckle head lucky enough to have discovered info-marketing)

It’s like you’ve figured out one of the big secrets to life or something

9. It’s recession proof… just about every info marketer I know is killing it right now… most doing better now then they we’re before the
economy took it’s lil’ down turn… info-marketers simply aren’t affected by the economy… our businesses just kinda seem to grow and grow ALMOST effortlessly… it really trips me out

10. I could go on and on but you get the point

Now… if info marketing is something that interests you ( and it’s actually something that interests over 93% of all fitness trainers)… then here’s some things you should do to get started…

One – Find your niche… find a need out there that isn’t being met, that people are willing to pay to have met.. and meet it

OR, you could find one that IS being met, and just do a better job marketing your products than the competition is doing

Two – Survey your audience to find out their biggest pains, fears, obstacles, frustrations and desires regarding this area of their life

This is HUGE, what they want and what you think they want might be two very different things.

Three – Become friends with other people who has a giant opt-in email lists of your audience… now keep in mind, most people probably WON’T mail for you, but if you can become good friends with a few, it can help big time… and it only takes a few to mail for you to literally launch an entire info-business overnight.

Make sure to start these relationships off with the giving hand, don’t just people to mail for you.

Four – Start a blog, with a lot of optimized posts, send links to your blog to get it to rank, and make it fun… ( click here for a post that’ll show you how to make sure your blog kicks ass )

Make sure your blog adds a ton of value to your readers lives.

Five – Start gathering opt-ins by… so you can build your email list

  • Putting opt-in boxes all over your blog
  • Driving targeted traffic to squeeze pages from places like Facebook ads, Google Adwords… and if you can afford it, even get traffic from magazines where your audience hangs out
  • Create valuable pieces of free content, which only requires an opt-in to receive, and get some affiliates and JV partners to send traffic to it ( just make sure the affiliate cookies are planted properly and it’s a win/win situation)

Six – Post useful information, without being a traffic leech, in places like…

  • Forums where your audience hangs out
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Others blogs in the comment section ( but don’t link back to yourself in the comment, that’s just downright spammy, if people like what you say and find it useful, they’ll click your name which should link back to your site)

Seven – Go to The Fitness Info Summit, where me, Bedros, Steve Hochman, Vince Delmonte and Craig Ballantyne will lay out exactly what you need to do to become a fitness info-marketer.

Well…

… There’s lot’s of other stuff I could tell you to go do, like creating your first product, setting up your shopping cart, getting your merchant accounts in order, finding a fulfillment company, getting your sales page written and so-on…

… but all that is secondary… for now, find your niche, add value to your market, get some buzz going about yourself, create relationships with the right people and build your list.

Remember, the most important thing is to ADD VALUE.

And I’ll admit, at first it can seem like a lot of work, but if you do it right… after six months or a year you can have a business that’s full of freedom, brings you in a ton of money and really doesn’t take all that much time.

Most of the guys who are successful fitness info-marketers built their businesses in their spare time, they were fitness trainers who trained people all day and spent time each night creating their little empire… now they make high six and seven figures and work where they want and when they want, and they usually spend a lot of time hanging out with other info-marketers and traveling around…

… like I said, it’s one helluva cool gig.

If becoming an information marketer interests you, and you’d like to have your own line of fitness info-products out making you a nice amount of coin pretty much on auto-pilot… while your off doing whatever you wanna do… then you NEED to go to the Fitness Info Summit

  1. Decent money can be made marketing just one product. Big money can be made by creating and selling mid and high ticket products which compliment an original lower ticket info product. These could be home study courses or coaching programs. This process is quite simple and the profit potential is massive.

  2. Chris,

Great post! I am just starting out in this whole info product world, but am already doing 10k/month with my monthly workout DVD program.

It is fun to see the money coming in now and I am not really doing much for it because I did the work (it was pretty tough work for a few days) about 4 months ago. It is even cooler to hear the testimonials from everyone who is on the program and loving it.

I did a grocery shopping tour last night and 3 of the people there I had never met. I asked how they heard of me and they said they are doing my DVDs. The one woman was asking how much longer until #3 came out :) She was begging for it!

Info products work big time, I encourage everyone to have at least one product to sell!

  7. Chris,

Hey man. Your posts always get me moving. I have started marketing a product based on the workouts I created for the President. Yes that guy. POTUS. I figured it was about as niche as you can get as nobody can say they have trained the President of the United States because no Prez before hijm ever had one and I am pretty sure since.

Anyway did a soft launch that was pretty good and a national launch is coming up next week. working on # 3 and 5 every day now.
    Thanks for the ppost.

  8. Stephen says:
