This is a Fitness Blogging Post by Chris McCombs
Hey there, I hope you’re awesome…
I have a very important question for you at the bottom of this post that will allow me to better help you reach your fitness business goals… cuz it’s super important to me that you get to where you wanna go in life and in business.
… but first…
Did you know that in the early 70′s Sly ( Sylvester Stallone ) couldn’t get a good gig in Hollywood for the life of him?
He kept getting one rejection after another
So finally he just went out and wrote Rocky, making sure he was the one to star in it no matter what the big studios wanted. If they wouldn’t let him star, they couldn’t make the movie, it was that simple.
Well, to make a long story short Rocky became his ‘personal star vehicle’… the thing that launched his entire successful career.
Well that’s what this blog has done for me, and it’s what blogging can do for you as well… it can be your ‘personal star vehicle’
As you might know blogging is BY FAR one of my favorite things in the whole world… and this little blog in my little niche has provided my family with a pretty substantial income.
In the near future I have a super in-depth “step-by-step” system coming out that will help you put a highly profitable blog to work for you as well in your own business.
PLUS… I also plan to blog a lot more about blogging… so in the near future keep your eyes out for more posts here on KickBackLife.com about how to have a highly profitable blog in your fitness niche.
Now here’s the thing, I want to create the product and the posts around what YOU want… I already have the core of the product down, but just in case I missed anything you want to know about blogging, that I can answer in the product or right here on the blog, please tell me about it in the comment section below.
That way I can best help you reach your fitness business goals.
Blogging is BY FAR the best way I know of to launch to profitable fitness information marketing or coaching business… take this blog for example… this thing makes sales for me every single day… whether I’m sleeping, at the movies, riding my Harley, on vacation, whatever… this thing runs pretty much on auto-pilot for me with the exception of busting out a few quick blog posts here and there.
And what’s cool is, because of this blog, some days we make more sales in a SINGLE DAY then what I used to make in an ENTIRE YEAR at my 36 hour per week job I had 8 years ago before I started my personal training business… I hated that job. ( BTW, I’ve only been blogging for about two years now)
I pretty much have this blogging thing down to a science and have literally cracked the code to owning a highly profitable blog and putting it to work for you… there’s no one else in the industry who understands this thing like I do, and I have some blogging traffic and conversion “secrets” I’ll be letting out of the bag that I haven’t shared with ANYONE EVER… it’s some pretty sick stuff.
Been testing it for awhile and the results are pretty insane.
Plus, I’ve called in some of the top fitness bloggers in the world who actually make good money from their blogs to help out with the product… these guys are kicking some serious ass with their fitness blogs…
…some for their local training business, and others for their info-product line and affiliate marketing for other peoples fitness products… the common thread is that their blog is one of their main sources of income.
Now, I’ve seen a few other fitness marketing guru’s and business coaches come out with blogging products of their own and try to teach blogging, but if you look at the stats on their own blog from places like Alexa.com you’ll see that they’re hardly getting any traffic to their OWN blog in the first place…
…so I’m not really sure why they’re teaching it right now… maybe I’ll send them a copy of my product when it comes out ( they could sure use it)
I’ve looked through a few of these “fitness blogging” products and it’s nothing you couldn’t learn in an hour or so down at the local Barnes and Noble book store thumbing through some of the basic “Blogging For Dummies” types of books… ( those books can give you a little of an understanding of blogging, but for the most part they’re a waste of time and pretty much go against a lot of the ninja blogging secrets you’ll be learning from me.)
Seeing that no one was successful meeting this need in the market I’ve decided to be the one to do it… plus it’s like one of my favorite things in the world… and I pretty much eat, sleep and breathe this stuff, so creating this content for you is pretty much a no-brainer… and I’m gonna have a blast doing it.
Blogging allows you to provide a TON of value to the market place as well as build a cult-like following of people eager to hand you their money
It’s something that is usually misunderstood and hardly ever used to it’s potential
My little blog has created a super high six-figure income for myself and is now quickly approaching seven figures in revenue a year… and it’s honestly one of the most fun things in the world to do… I look forward to sharing with you EXACTLY how you can create a highly profitable blog for yourself.
Ok, now…
So I can better help meet your needs and get you to where you wanna go in your fitness business and fitness career path, I’d like to know the answer or answers to the following question from you in the comment question below…
What are your biggest questions when it comes to having a profitable fitness blog?
Like I said, just let me know in the comment section below… I really appreciate your help with this and it will help ME to help YOU better…

hey chris,
so pretty much……i cant get people to comment on my blog for the life of me. i even put up a contest where i offered free online training for a month (using hitechtrainer) all u had to do is leave a comment about your biggest weight loss obstacles. i tweeted and facebooked all about it and got one comment. its kinda humiliating. i dont know what to do. i dont even know if i have readers (besides my mom of course). so thats pretty much the jist of it for me. no traffic, comments or readers.
Hey Chris whats up man
First thanks for getting me out of that chinese exam, i was talking u at the summit and the pic got me outta of a test.
What i wanted to ask you is when you create an article (or your outsource) do you want to back link the article to your blog or a squeeze page or both?
I've hear a you should always send to a squeeze page because your main objective is to capture names, but i also heard directing traffic to your blog can also be awesome if you are doing affiliate work.
Thanks man,
Chris Stella
Hi Chris ,
1. Where to go for Best resource for the day to day things , adding photo's , video , opt in boxes etc to the blog .
2. Do you suggest following others for a while to develop your "Blogging Style"
3. Key Indicators to go by , so we know how we are tracking ,ie. whats a good open rate from email to blog post getting opened , if we have 500 names on list is there a good ratio of comments to posts /per X # of names on list , just all the Key Indicators that you use to track how well the blog is doing .
Cheers
My problem is the same as mike's, can't sustain traffic and don't know how to turn the blog into a money maker. I have great content and even got some online billboard client from it, but I definitely don't understand how to market it. I could really use your help. I started to abandon it until I read this.
Chris my friend…Mitch Lee here
How's Sons of Anarchy? Gotta love Peggy Bundy – shes gansta LOL
When you talk of Gimpsy, Yahoo and getting in there, when you talk of googogle local and all other links, back links etc. that help getting found – should I (we) do this for our SALES COPY SITE or for our blog?
I have a blog with Shingo thats doing good from Shingo and its in google local and on first page of google for a few key phrases but my sales copy site (Shingo will have done soon) is coming out – is this where I want to get tlinks ro and do all that Annihilator stuff you talk of?
BTW – It was emotionally painful cuz it was hard but I got like 22 testimonials in 10 days (6 really compelling before/afters and like 5 videos and the rest good looking pics) – thanks for stressing the importance of this – i think its gonna kick ass
talk care my friend! tell Steve I got him those DVD'S he wanted entitled
"Im good enough, Im smart enough, and gosh darn it…people like me" LMAO
Alright Chris,
Let's say, I have lots of traffic.
1) What do I do with it?
2) How do I do it?
Chris,
Great information and thanks for being at Fitness Info
Summit it was great to meet you!
Do you suggest blogging on a page like http://www.mainsite/blog
or a totally separate domain and point each post/page back
to your mainsite?
Monty
Hey Chris, my question is about the structure you recommend for blogging, for example having a certain topic that you set aside for certain days of the week and having a name for those days. Just a few that i have seen are Training Tip Tuesday, Wednesdays Workout and Fridays Random Post, etc…. Or is it better to just blog whatever comes to mind providing that it is good info?
Thanks for the help,
Nick Anest
Hey Chris,
Do you use any tools to automate sending out your new blog postings to twitter, facebook, digg, etc. Always looking for great ways to spread the message. Love to hear your thoughts!

Hey Chris, this blogging thing has evaded me for a while now…I'm "trying"to do a blog and use facebook…have twitter but don't "tweet".I have this social media stuff but not using effectively, incliding my blog. I also have 2 main websites and thought maybe a good blog could tie them together. Also my main biz is bootcamp (ahwatukeebootcamp.com) and I have my dawnfranklin.com that was "supposed to be geared more toward selling products and providing content rich info but it doesn't, well kind of. It is a great feeder to my bootcamp site thoigh. The blog I DO have is more just "hey, here's some info, read it." No comments, no interaction. I also plan on starting a small group trng biz. Sooooo..
Many questions, ill toss out a couple. Is wordpress good or blogger or? Do I promote or name the blog "dawn's blog" and promote my training and bootcamps and products. Does the name matter? Then I et stuck on WHAT to blog. AND can you use a blog as your main site that funnels to your other sites (I've seen this and its almost more of a website) So confused. I'm glad you are doing this becuz many of us want to do a blog and are attempting and failing miserably. I'd love a great informational blog that people want to read (duh, don't we all) ANd bring me business without spending way too many hours on it. I want to have FUN with it.
That was a lot…but you asked! Can't wait for your product! Dawn
My question is in regards to physically setting up the blog in the first place as i'm just about to embark on a new wordpress blog. Chris or anyone who has experience maybe able to help me out here.
Q1.Do most of you guys set your blogs up by yourself or do you get an IT guy/outsource it or if you were to do it all over again what would you do?
Q2. And if you recommend to outsource then who should I use?
What's up Chris -
You read my mind with this product. I was actually going to hit you up on Twitter a while back and beg you to come out with a product/coaching system that deals strictly with creating a kick ass blog that spits out money 24/7 like yours
Blogging is definitely my passion and I love the idea of building up a huge following of loyal fans – all in one convenient place – and using that platform to create and launch products and services to meet their needs.
I'm sure you know what we need, but here are a few things I'd really like to have some detailed instructions on:
- how to maximize comments, interaction and opt-in rates
- how to quickly improve your alexa rank, google pr and find targeted traffic
- optimal posting frequency…and how to give our readers exactly what they want (assuming you don't yet have a huge list to survey)
- what do you feel is the most profitable product/service to create first?
- I'm in the process of building a membership site and I'd love to see some step-by-step instructions on how to create this…plugins and software you recommend (I'm thinking Wishlist w/ Click Bank integrated and hosting my videos w/ Amazon S3)…
- basically it'd be great to hear what you think would be the easiest to set up, give the least customer service issues and provide our members with the best experience.
- Also, maybe some tips/tactics about the launch process and how to gather affiliates who think you're a 'nobody.' Pricing, upsells, bonuses, minimizing attrition rate, etc.
- would love to hear your stories/lessons learned from your MA launches
- creating the perfect copy for this membership site
- how to increase blogging efficiency (i currently waste a lot of time choosing pics, aligning them, etc)
- all of your secret weapons on the entertainment factor, since there will always be thousands of other fitness websites giving away similar info for free….how do we create that purple cow and provide that unique experience that makes visitors want to come and hang out in 'our world'
- how to be just edgy enough
- how to exclude enough ppl and 'niche-down' to develop a deeper connection with our followers
- how to build your authority/celebrity status
- how to decide how much info to give away for free and how much to save for our products and services
- ideas on looking outside the industry for JV opportunities and affiliate partners
- thoughts on adding paid advertising (banners, etc) when our traffic gets large enough….I'm guessing it's not worth it since you don't do it? But there are ppl like John Chow making huge $$ off this alone….so I'd like to hear your thoughts on this "if/when" we get that kind of traffic
- how to build a stronger bond w/ ppl inside the members area (teleconferences, should we have a forum?)
That's it for now – I'm sure you already had most of these, but hopefully I touched on something that could help you add more great content to this service.
Looking forward to it, Chris…keep us updated.

wow, love this post and this blog and GREAT questions from everyone.
Chris has the Blog down to a science no doubt.
You'll hear more from me w/Chris REALLY soon
But, for those having trouble blogging, let me give a few advanced tips before the BIG enchilada comes out:
- why do you read Chris;s blog, or any blog for that matter? Because the content s downright AWESOME! Ask yourself… is your content awesome, entertaining, amazing and ass kicking??
- How did Chris spread word of his Blog? He guest blogged for others, he helped other BIG web sites by providing interviews and content, always with ass kicking info. Are you writing for other BIG fitness sites to help your credibility?
- Why does Chris have SOOOOO many blog posts? He does it almost every day and he adds killer videos and photos to add thunder! How often do you blog? Do you use videos and photos and leverage the use of you tube?
- Do you connect with Chris? Why? Why would people connect with you? Do you tell stories, do you let them "inside"?
Everyone here can connect, stay tuned for what Chris is about to unleash, it's badd ass, i can assure you

Hi Chris,
My question is this; When I get my blog up and running, do I need to have a product? Or, is a blog a way for me to get my name out there and connect with people who want the info I will share. I fear that people will leave my blog entirely in a few weeks if I don't have something to provide them with. Is a newsletter good enough? I plan to share videos of exercises and recommended books on my blog
Mike,
I checked out your site and I have a couple suggestions. There is very little personality on the home page, I would change the home page to be the blog page, that way it is the first thing that a person sees. You are doing the right things in giving incentives, I am guessing that you aren't getting enough traffic. Maybe have your mom comment and then someone else might start
You can see what I mean about having your front page be the blog. I have gotten over 100 comments on some of my posts http://www.dustinmaherfitness.com
Chris
will it work for a martial arts school and how can i make money from it?
I don't even know how to blog. How do you even start blogging? And how do you blog so it is successful?
I just started blogging myself and it's helped out my business pretty fast. I try to write 2-3 posts a week m,w,f. I drive traffic to it from my fitpronewsletter broadcasts while pitching a promo, announce on my twitter and facebook acounts. I look at the analytics and get pretty good traffic for a new blog site, but also having problems getting people to comment.
Within a week I have gotten 2 new bootcamp clients from it so I see the benefit of front of mind awareness to your list.
Fitpro really helps with sending broadcasts to your list about new blog posts. I suggest utilizing your blog to fire links at your salescopy site and within your blog pages.
Keep sending more tips on how to get comments.
Thanks
Christian
Hey Chris,
Thanks for asking….
1. How do you keep them coming back for more?
2. What do you do when you just can't think of anything else to write, video, or pic?
Thanks
1. What's the best way to generate traffic? I can get some decent views via FaceBook and Twitter, but I want MORE!
2. What's a good way to monetize your traffic without looking cheap? Something I'm not thinking about doing yet, but still want to learn about!
3. What's the best color scheme? I have noticed lots of brighter/white themed ones and mine is DARK! Is that a bad idea? Do you think it works … http://www.fitnessinsiderblog.com ??
Thanks!!
Traffic, traffic and more traffic…how to get more…
And, once they're there (notice double proper use of "there"
how to drive them to sales page & convert.
-Steve
Chris,
I began blogging a couple months ago and have some consistent readers from FB but questions 1) how do I get traffic from elsewhere?
2) How do I sell/make money off of a blog. I never understood that part. 3) Where do I find stuff to sell and how do I put it on my blog?
Thanks, I love your helpful blog:)
