Also, if you click on a link on my site to someone else's product, there's a good chance I'm makin' a profit off of it, probably even a steep one.

Hey Craig and Chris,
Thanks for the great video. Once again Craig you are right on the money with this one. Monthly physical challenges that steer away from the conventional assessment tools are a great retention strategy.
One of my coaching clients takes this to the next level and has a adventure weekend away each year that his clients train for and try and beat their times each year. Retention gold
Keep the the info coming. Complacency can be a bitch sometimes.

Man - this reminds me of being back in high school, and taking weight training class. (If I was gonna be working out all the time, I might as well get an extra "A" in my GPA, right?
At the end of every 9-weeks, we'd test our "maxes" in the bench, squat, and power clean. If your total was a certain amount, you'd get a t-shirt with our school's name, a real-badass graphic of our mascot (the lava bear) and the worlds "XXX lb. club" on it. The t-shirts started at 600 for girls, 700 for guys, and went up every 100 lbs.
I remember getting a 900 lb Club shirt my junior year, and being one of only (IIRC) 3-4 guys in the school that had one. I was so damn proud of that thing - I used to wear it all the time. In fact, I used it as a workout shirt up into my late 20s.
That kinda thing is an AWESOME motivator!
Been some great info put up here as of late - keep up the kickass work!

Thanks guys,
The idea of setting at least one personal best per workout has worked well for us. That way even if they aren't 100% focused when they arrive, they have something they can really go for each workout.
There's definitely a love/hate relationship with those challenge workouts too!

Great video. I like the idea of competition with the clients and I'm sure they will like it as well.
Great ideas Craig to Boot Camp fresh!
Awesome stuff, Craig and Chris. My clients give me a lot more effort when I tell them it's a "Challenge" workout.
I would like to know how you guys run your challenge workouts with a big bootcamp group. As far as tracking individual times, reps, ect…
Thanks.
John
Craig…you are video hits the bulls eye! Keep your clients reaching higher and they'll help you reach higher. As the saying goes.."If you want to dine with the classes you must meet the needs of the masses"
Thanks Craig and Chris.

Hey great info, that is so true. I did that the other day and it turned out awsome!
Thanks Craig and Chris!! my new Fit camp is starting today and i will definitely be doing some type of workout challenge..
Thanks again!
Thanks for the reminder Craig and Chris! Competing against and beating any personal best has always proved rewarding experience that gets my clients pumped and throwing out high fives through out the workout(unless it was a shoulder move, we go for the love five, lol). I keep a highlighter in my clip board and whenever my clients reach a new personal best I bust it out and light their workout log! After that some of my clients will make remarks to me that "this workout you are going to have to bust out the highlighter!". It's always nice when my clients get to see a workout log covered in highlights.
Awesome stuff!
I've been thinking about ways to challenge people in my boot camp. Your ideas are perfect. All we've done so far is simple testing, how many push-ups in a minute etc… but giving them reps and see how long it takes will be a great change of pace.
Thanks for the ideas!
Chad
Great video Craig! Thanks!
one technique i use is "branding" my clients. meaning that you give them a hat or t-shirt with your name or gym's name on it, and tell them to wear it with pride. this is incredibly helpful for building loyalty!
Awesome post Craig. I had been toying around with some different challenge workouts over the last few weeks and can't wait to throw them out there. I have some SUPER competitive clients so it should be fun!
