A Simple and Effective Alternative To Long Salescopy

This is a Fitness Internet Marketing Post By Chris McCombs

Here's a video interview I did for my Market Annihilator members a few months back and I thought I'd share it with you here on the blog as well… Enjoy

As you probably know, I'm a huge fan of long salescopy and have been for a long time… the best conversions I've seen on a sales site ( not blog, but sales site) is from long copy with no nav bar links at the top of the page, it's worked great for me for years… plus, all the content on the page gives you plenty of chances to stick in a whole bunch of variations of my main keywords, which is great for the search engines.

The biggest problem I've found with long salescopy is that it takes a while to learn how to do it properly, and often times people think that if they just make it long, that it'll help with conversions… but rarely is this the case… bad copy is bad copy and almost always equals bad conversions… that's why one method I suggest is headline, benefits, video, before and afters with testimonials, and a call to action. Simple and to the point.

However recently I've stumbled onto an alternative that is worth testing in your business… while it contains all the elements of a good long direct response salespage… it's something that you can actually put together much quicker, and one boot camp instructor I know is actually getting better conversions with it.

Here's the site I'll be discussing in the video - NotYourAverageBootCamp.com

Just check out this video…

This is one of the best posts you've had up on your Market Annihilator site. Absolutely awesome. A lot of people these days have to sift through tons of e-mails, text messages, and other marketing sites. For me this means people are less likely to read or even skim over long sales copy.

Same info delivered in less time with more impact (because it's video) is always a good thing!

Hey Chris thanks for the video!

I've been wondering if there is an effective alternative to a long salescopy page. I'll keep your video in mind when I'm setting my page up, maybe give both a chance, see what works best for my niche.

Take care,

Chad

Hey Chris

When I saw this video in your MA program a while back it really hit home because after testing a few different page formats, clients in the Australian market are responding much better to this than long sale-copy pages (I think we are just impatient).

A good offer, presented in clear and dynamic way (using video) sends a great message and provides a strong point of difference compared to alot of other PT sites out here in Oz at the moment.

Like you said, writing long copy is a skill that has to be refined but this simple page format can be put together and presented by anybody who is prepared to put the time in.

Thanks for all the effort you put into your content - it is much appreciated.

I like this. I've been working on a promo video for my Boot Camp as I have had great success with putting videos on my site. people are very visual, they wanna see it before they buy it and this has helped me with one of my other programs and I know it will help me with my Boot Camp. I had not thought of putting myself on the video and explaining my program, this is an excellent idea. I think her video is a little long, there is a reason why a TV commercial is only 30 seconds, I don't plan on making my video much longer than 2 minutes, but that's just my opinion. I also like a site that is a little bit "cleaner" looking, but again, just my opinion, her site definitely gets the job done.

Thanks for the post, good info. I'll be incorporating this in the next few weeks.

Holy crap! That website sucks =)

Seriously though, this website brought new light to my business. It's been priceless. Thanks for posting this Chris. You rock!

Keep kicking ass guys.

Rick, its nice to see you've jumped on board the Chris, Bedros & Steve bandwagon.
not sure about your new website though…

Hey guys,

After seeing Leanne's first post awhile ago I started looking into using the concepts used on her site.

If you guys are trying to DIY this (the video part), I found this cool site freeteleprompter.com

I havent used it yet but I plan on it. I just wrote my script.

Its web based and scrolls your script across the screen, just write up your script and cut and paste it in.

I'll sit my laptop right under the video camera.

Should help making you sound more professional

Hope it helps!

She certainly gets alot "above the fold" on the website, but there sure a helluva lot distracting links for a sales copy website. I'm a bigger fan of ONE link or ONE link + ONE upsell product, and that's it…

Awesome Info!

Ill keep in mind using a short sales page for my bootcamp when it launches for next year.

maybe Ill use a short one for the 21 day rapid fa loss program and a long one for the usual Bootcamp sales copy page..

@Aussie Mick

Do I bite or not?

Its a dangerous practice posting unnecessarily negative things on-line about people that you don't know. If the bandwagon you are referring to consists of following Chris, Steve and Bedros for the past two years and being a Market Anniliator member for 6 months, then yes, I am officially on the bandwagon :-)

Sorry you don't like the site. I would love to hear your feedback on how I can improve it as it always evolving. I am definitely open to all suggestions from every aspect of the marketplace. You can reach my privately at rick@ptbusinessinabox.com.au

Good luck with your business. With these guys behind you, I know it will be a great success.

Cheers

Rick

P.S: Chris, sorry to use this platform for this message but sometimes you just gotta bite :-)

I love it. I was never a fan of long sales copy on a website due to the nature of my business but I found this to be awesome.

Thx so much!!!
