10 Things to Do This Month
A Fitness Marketing Guest Post by Craig Ballantyne
I just got home from my latest fitness business mastermind meeting down in Tampa, Florida, and we had a HUGE breakthrough meeting.
During our Friday morning session, I locked the members in a room and didn't let them leave until we had planned out a 12-month step-by-step guide for:
- Every product launch
- Every affiliate promotion
- And every traffic building strategy we could think of
It was the most powerful meeting we've ever had.
And I also gave out a few tips that I can pass along to bootcamp owners…they are plain and simple, yet powerfully effective.
Here are are the top 10 need to do this week to move your website business along…
1) Focus on being the go-to "Authority" in your niche market.
Be passionate and plan to carve out AUTHORITY status in your local fitness market for one specific area.
Are you going to be the "Bootcamp for Moms" expert? Are you going to be the speed training expert for young athletes? Are you going to be the corporate bootcamp expert?
Whatever you pick, attack it HARD. Be relentless.
Build your website so that it - and YOU - are known as the one-and-only GO-TO resource for all questions related to your niche market.
And be very vocal about it…make sure you tell everyone that your site is the #1 website on the web for questions about your market.
This is no time to be timid.
2) Make it fun to do business with you.
Write fun emails, do cool videos, and run awesome and interesting promotions…and build your blog to be a place that people want to visit
everyday.
3) Be confident
Be loud and proud of what you are trying to accomplish online. Tell everyone that your bootcamps are the best and that your clients get amazing results.
And IGNORE the HATERS. They are less than 1% of the world…so just realize that 99% of your readers love you…and 1% of them need to get a life and
stop hating.
4) Identify 3 promotional opportunities in each of the next 3 months.
What can you create or what affiliate product can you promote so that you help your readers and marketplace get more results?
What 3 holidays or special events can you tie in with? Can you do something with the Superbowl or the Oscars or the Grammys?
Can you have a charity bootcamp with all donations going to the Haiti relief fund?
Listen, you MUST do whatever you can to associate your bootcamp with the most popular "water cooler" discussion topics today. Align your bootcamp with current events and more people will be talking about you than ever.
5) Shift your schedule so that you are writing when you are at your peak creativity.
If you write your marketing and sales letters when you are at your peak creativity, you'll be able to get twice as much done in half the time.
If you have to get up earlier to do this, then make no excuses and set that alarm. If you write best at lunchtime, stop going out to lunch every day and stay in and get writing.
6) Make a list of the top 10 concerns of your market
Write article about each and make video of each. That will help you become the GO-TO problem solver authority site for your market.
So if you are the "Bootcamp Expert for Moms", then write down the top 10 questions you get asked each bootcamp, such as "how do I get rid of
stretchmarks?", "what can I do to get rid of the cellulite?", etc.
Then write articles and create videos that you can put on your bootcamp website or blog to get more traffic and referrals.
7) Make a list of 3 products/promotions/new bootcamps you will create this year and then set deadlines to have them done.
People who make the most money are the ones who create the most products. So brainstorm 3 products and create one every 4 months - if not more frequently.
For an offline business, that might mean finding a new location to run another bootcamp on Monday morning or evening. That will also mean hiring
new trainers. But set a DEADLINE to implement this plan and it WILL get done.
Interview someone for your authority site. The 5 words that can help boost your business fast are: "May I interview you please?"
Interviewing others and posting that on your blog will show your market that you are looking everywhere for info to help them succeed.
There's nothing wrong with getting other experts to chip in and contribute to your site or blog. Again, it shows your readers that you care about
getting them the best content. Just look at what Chris has done with this site.
9) I got this one from OSP Mastermind Member Alex Maroko…"Buy a year-long day planner and paste a list of your goals to the inside cover. Spend an hour on Sunday planning out your upcoming week and the month ahead for promotions and product creation."
10) And finally, if you REALLY want to boost your business, and you are TRULY SERIOUS about hitting 6-figures for the first time or doubling your income, then you absolutely, positively, MUST have a coach, mentor, and mastermind group helping you achieve these goals in 2010.
You're just like your clients - they can't do it alone and neither can you…so get someone who has "been there and done that" to help accelerate
your success.
Looking forward to hearing about your success in 2010,
Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS

Great tips Craig! Hey whats the latest on it being a yay or nay as being recommended to post pricing structure on my web site? Anyone who has some good feedback on that I'd love to know your experiences. Thanks!
Jeremy
Thanks, great post and great timing as I just created my blog a few weeks ago. I printed this and posted it on my desk. good stuff
I love this post! Thanks for all your tips!
Great list Craig… Especially related to no. 5 about writing at your most creative. That for me is after I finish my morning session of clients and my giant morning latte is still flowiung through my body.
I have just started using my Voice Recorder (on my beloved iPhone - who doesn't love this thing!?) to take notes for writing articles, etc. as I am pretty sure Bob Proctor said once that there are million dollar ideas floating around the ether all the time, we just have to stop and listen, or something very similar to that.
Thanks Chris for posting this mate, have a lot of respect for Craig's work and I use it frequently in my personal training business(es).

Nice post Craig.
I am just now finally realizing how important it is for me to write my To-Do-List & Goals down on something permanent. I find myself getting much more done each day when I have written down a tasks list. I'm going to make sure I write down these tips as well.
Awesome!
Thanx Craig.
