Successful Personal Trainers

A Successful Personal Trainers Post by Chris McCombs

Hey there, Chris McCombs here… hope you're doin' awesome and your fitness business is friggin' crushin' it.  You probably know lately I've been making a documentary with my friend Bedros about the subculture of internet marketing, including interviews with a few successful personal trainers.  We traveled around the country and visited the most successful internet marketers in the world.  There were some pretty common themes that kept coming up when it comes to what's made them so successful… I'd like to share those with you here…

1. Even though many of them have ADHD and dropped out of high-school, they almost all invest in their marketing education on an ongoing basis.  Almost every one of them had closets, bookshelves and stacks full of products to help them get better at marketing and reach their goals… you should see MY closet, I now have about 250K worth of info-products.  Too many fitness pro's invest in multiple certifications to get better at what they do, but actually that won't help them make any extra money at all.  If you want to be in the top 1% of highest paid trainers in the world, invest more in the marketing of what you do… that's what'll get you there.

2. Almost all of them have coaches and mentors… across the board these guys all took on mentors who acheived what they wanted to achieve

Successful personal trainers have mentors.  The rest of the people don't.

3. They ALL had positive mental attitudes… not a complainer among them

4. They ALL have goals, a clear and defined vision of where they're goin'

5. They ALL work for themselves

6. They ALL value friends, family and relationships as much as they do business

7. They are ALL givers… and value ADDERS… not a taker among em'

8. They are ALL willing to do WHATEVER it takes to make their dreams happen

9. They ALL have good social skills ( If you lack this one, pick up Dale Carnegies 'How To Win Friends and Influence People'… I'll admit it, my social skills used to suck big time, then I read that book and it changes everything)

10. They all invest in their businesses… tight wads always end up broke

11. They're all WAY cool people

12. Almost all of them went against industry norms in their various niches

13. Almost all of them charge top dollar, very few compete on price

14. Each of them are doing what they're PASSIONATE about… to quote Dave Tate… "Passion Trumps Everything"

15. They are all good at outsourcing and time management

Almost every fitness pro I know who makes six or seven-figures a year has these same traits, and they are LEARNABLE.  The other 99% of the industry is focused on trading hours for dollars, collecting certifications and trying to figure out why they don't have the life or business they want.  If you'd like to learn how to become a successful personal trainer and live the life you truly deserve, here's a list of resources that can help you… but only if you take action…
