Bootcamps are da bomb… yeah, I know.

They allow you to work far less and earn far more. You also get the privilege of being able to help many more people than would otherwise be possible. These are all enormous plus sides.

But guess what? It gets even better…

Listen, Big Chris McCombs is a gifted storyteller and, admittedly, I’m not.

One thing I have learned from Big Chris, however, is importance of being authentic. For me, authentic means shooting from the hip and getting straight to the point whenever possible.

That said, you’ll forgive me if I skip the formalities and get right down to brass tacks here…

Who wants to add 3 large to their bank accounts every month?

It’s easier than you think…

Choose a niche you’re currently not serving, but easily could given the proper incentive. Could be soccer kids, could be soccer moms. Could be wrestling, tennis, or golf. Could be youth fitness, could be geriatric fitness. Think outside the box.

Now here’s where this gets cool…

Many of the demographics represented above will neither want nor need to train with you more than twice a week.  And contrary to what you might think, that’s actually a GOOD THING!

Scratch that. If you follow my blueprint, it’s actually a GREAT THING.

Right about now you must be thinkin’, “this guys nuts.”

Not at all. The fitness industry affords us an incredible opportunity for Lifestyle Design (and last I checked, this blog was called KickBackLife.com).

Look, if you’re not already working with this demographic, chances are you’re not particularly passionate about it. And that’s fine. In fact, it’s the whole point.

We’re gonna take 20 people from this niche you’re not currently serving and use a concept called batching to minimize the time you spend working with them while concurrently maximizing your profits.

Sound good?

Well it here goes..

Batching is a system that takes your undesirable tasks and “batches” them into a single opportunity for you to get them done, as opposed to executing them routinely.  For our purposes, it means that instead of doing what fitness coaches always do with clients – training them on non-consecutive days – we’re gonna do the opposite here and train this new group on two consecutive days. Thus minimizing time spent with them and optimizing both time and profit.

Simple blueprint:

  • 8 Sessions per month
  • 2 Sessions per week
  • Scheduled for two consecutive days

Simple Formula:

  • 20 People
  • $149.99mo.
  • $3K in your pocket

…And here’s the kicker, you DO NOT call it a workout, a training program, or a bootcamp.

It’s a CLINIC. It’s a very special CLINIC that is run weekly on two consecutive days.  It’s instructional AND Physical.

If it’s soccer kids, you’re teaching them to master exercise and movement skills relating to improving athletic performance. If it’s the elderly, you’re teaching them to master exercise and movement skills relating to improving quality of life.

So here’s the thing, you’re no longer just a fitness coach… you’re a Physical Educator. That’s right! And your clinics automatically garner high perceived value.

This is a no-brainer way of substantially improving your bottom line as a fitness profession, and it comes with yet another benefit -  go-to-guy (or girl) positioning.

Because you run regular “Clinics”, your community quickly comes to regard you as their resident expert.

That in turn, my good friends, means even more clients for your primary fitness practice!

If you’re wondering how to get people from the niche you’ve chosen into your clinic, Think…

  • JV’s
  • Sports Coaches
  • Minor sports Associations
  • Free Workshops/presentations
  • Physician referrals (ex. pediatricians)
  • Your list of contacts
  • And many, many more

Hope you got a lot from this post. It was more than a pleasure to write it. I know that with a little focus, you’ll be able to replicate the results I’ve had with this method.

You’ve also got this awesome blog from Big Chris that contains as much info as you’ll ever need to know about fitness marketing.

Absolutely brilliant, Chris! I need a new idea and I think this hit the jackpot!

  2. Love the "Clinic" idea, simple, yet brilliant. Outside the box for sure. We all thought about it, but most of us let the thought slip away, along with the paycheck. Thanks for taking an idea and turning it into an executable plan!

  3. Really like the idea of them being called clinics. How do you ind hem being on consecutive days works in terms of results

  4. Brian says:

Great Idea1 Anything that is contrary to the "norm" is always a good thing.

    Thanks for the idea.

  5. Great idea Chris, do you have that all set up in your Volo system?? Let us know if you need any help. Have an awesome day.

In terms of results, remember that those who optin for your clinic are not there primarily for fitness. If they were, they'd already be part of your bootcamps and/or primary fitness programs. Rather, these customers are seeking education and instruction from an expert.

For example, let's say you want to do strength & mobility for golfers as your weekly clinic. These men and women are not coming to you in order to get a beach body in time for summer. Instead, they're attending your weekly clinics to prepare their bodies for better golf.

By the way, golf clinics tend to draw quite a few clients. Especially when it's just two consecutive days per week. Arrange to do a free workshop at all the local courses. Pro Shops make awesome JV partners.
