Affiliate Marketing for Fitness Products

Fitness Affiliate Product Marketing Guest Post by Ryan Magin

Unlike most people that try to make it on the Internet by making their own product I want nothing to do with that, I hate customer service, dread emails, and really would rather kick back behind the scenes and collect my paychecks.

So how does one do all this and still make money?

The Answer is simple… Affiliate Marketing. I sell fitness products as an affiliate on the internet.

Now if you’re new to the Internet you probably aren’t familiar with guys like me who find products that sell, set up some review sites or write some emails, drive traffic to them, and people buy the product and I make 75% affiliate commission

Its like magic :) they deal with shipping, customer service emails, and anything else involved with the process and every week I sit back and collect my check. To me this sounds like a no brainer, Remember the old saying “If You Cant Beat Em, Join Em” well

I came to the realization About 6 months ago that I am not going to out market Joel Marion, Vince Delmonte, Jason Ferruggia, Lean Hybrid Muscle, or any of the other powerhouses that are killing it in the fitness industry.

So I said to myself “why not just figure out new ways to sell their stuff?” … so that’s what I did. I sell their fitness products as an affiliate an make a nice commission, they get sales, a we both make money… it’s a win/win situation.

Now your probably wondering what kind of income one can earn as strictly an affiliate?

I’m going to get to that in a second, but first I want to tell you were I came from and why I chose this path to make my living.

About 3 years ago I was a door and window salesman at Lowes Home Improvement center making on average 50-60k a year.

Now at 21 years old I was living the life…

buying stuff I didn’t need…

…spending money at bars…

blowing it on girls… you name it I probably spent money on it.

But after 5 years of that slowly everyday I went to work a part of me was dying inside…

I hated being there for 10 hours a day selling stuff I could give two shits about.

So I did what most people including my parents called crazy…

I quit, walked out with no plan but a huge smile on my face.

I immediately went to work to find a new way to make a living and that was group training, you see I already was addicted to the iron and figured training people would be awesome, so I got some certs and was training them out of my garage. Well beside the 2 friends I was training I was still coming up way short on the income train and needed more clients.

Hers comes the internet, now everyday I was spending countless hours in front of my computer and while I should have been reading blogs like Big Chris’s and learning how to generate more clients to train, I was delving into the amazing world of Internet marketing and the endless income it can produce.

So after realizing I didn’t have as much passion for training others as I thought I delved into the world of product creation and information marketing, I made a training DVD To help BMX racers get faster on their bike.

This by no means was a huge success but it taught me what was possible when you make a product put it on the internet and you make money while you sleep (this just might be the best feeling in the world).

One thing about that market is that most 16 year old bmx riders don’t have credit cards… wish I woulda thought of that in first, but oh well, I made some nice sales and learned some major lessons…

… the main one being find out what people want and sell it to them.

So instead of making my own fitness or musclebuilding product I put my ego aside and started pushing other peoples stuff. This has treated me well so far, because as of right now I can honestly say I make a fulltime income on the internet. In the short time of 6 months I have gone from making next to nothing online to making an average of 75 to 100 bux a day.

Is it millions? nope not yet at least :) , but every month my number per day is increasing and will be at 6 figures in no time.

So now that I ‘ve told you why I think affiliate marketing is awesome… here are 3 tips on how to get started making money as an affiliate…

Step 1: Pick a product you know people are already buying, if your into building muscle Triple Threat Muscle by Jason Ferruggia is a good one and so is Vince Delmonte’s No Nonsense Musclebuilding.

Both of those pay 75% commission and are very good products.

Step 2: If you have a blog, make sure you do a really good review of whoevers product you decide to promote and if your feeling ambitious buy the product and make a screenshot video review and put it on youtube… here’s an example of a good review blog: Jason Ferruggia

Also make sure your blog is clearly designed to generate leads (aka emails), and include your product in a 4 email promo once they enter their name and email (for an example of how to capture emails check this page I use – Muscle Building)

Step 3: Take Massive Action… after you set something up, work your ass off to drive traffic and build your email list

Here are some of my favorite ways to drive traffic…

  • Teleseminars
  • Guest blog posts ( like this one)
  • Videos
  • And articles

Pick one of each and attack it for atleast 4 weeks and then move on to the next.

So lets say you choose video… make 1 video a day for 4 weeks all linking back to your site if you choose articles do 1 article a day, etc…

Don’t expect this to be a get rich over night process because you’ll be highly disappointed, but put in the work and you WILL see results.

Just dont expect anyone to understand you if you decide to tell what you do for a living.

Just smile and say you build websites, work on ebay, or do internet porn :) , because lets face… thats all anyone thinks the internet is anyway.

Ryan Magin is an fitness affiliate marketer, BMX’er and does internet porn… ok, not really, he doesn’t actually race bmx anymore (=

Hey there, it’s Big Chris and I hope you enjoyed Ryan’s Post… be sure to leave him a comment

And I want to give you a little heads up about a program I’ve got coming out in the very near future… it’s called Fitness Blogging Profits, it will show you exactly how to create a six to seven figure income from your own fitness blog… my blood, sweat, tears, heart and soul are in this one…

  1. Great post Ryan. You're a great affiliate marketer – I followed along with that teleseminar series you did with the muscle building challenge thing where the guys competed to give the best info.

    Great marketing man.

I don't do teleseminars cause I hate technology and I don't do so well live…I start stuttering and whatnot. Still trying to get good at doing videos (I can do screen captures just fine, but once I get my face in front of the camera it's like I become a completely different person). I'm working on getting better so I can do them.

I do a lot of video and article stuff…plus I do pretty good at driving paid traffic. (CPV, PPC & Facebook ads).

And people still don't understand what I do for a living…I just tell people I sell stuff or I provide solutions to problems or I enrich others lives and they pay the mortgage.

This post hit home. There are similarities to my life as well. I currently do personal training and intercollegiate level training and have been slowly moving towards affiliate marketing.

After working with Division I football players, I have a tough time in the Environment and don't have the heart for it, so I've been looking for other ways to earn some income.

I have struggled, but like your idea of attacking one particular aspect for a month before moving on. This could be my new approach.

    Thanks for the tips

Thanks Ryan, sounds like you are on the right track.

I have been playing around with fitness affiliate marketing and fitness information products for a few years, and now I am at the point where I just work from home fulltime.

I live right near the beach, so if there's some waves I can just flip down my laptop, grab my board and go surfing. It's a good lifestyle.

I made my first few sales promoting some bootcamp marketing stuff, then figured I could make my own products, so I created Total Surfing Fitness http://www.totalsurfingfitness.com to help surfers get fit.

It took off and now I have had several days where I have made over $1,000. I no Craig Ballantyne, but I'm on my way.

My latest project I just lauched a few days ago, and it's just what you are talking about – promoting other peoples products. I am targeting men and promoting primarily Turbulence Training.

Check out my site if you like to see how you can use a blog effectively – http://www.blokesfitness.com

It's early days on this one, but I have big plans.

Anyway help my story helps all those who are starting out. It took me over a year to get where I am at, and it can be alot of work, but if you are persistent, it can be done.

    Good luck,

I am invloved in internetmarketing as well as Fitness. I can assure you that there are some people out there making well over 6 figures selling other people's products. A good book to read is affiliate marketing by Rosalind Gardner.

  12. so…. you're an internet marketer and you're not in porn? I don't get it! :P

jk great article – I've been learning so much from you – thank you Ryan!

Great post, You brought it down to the real word, there is no "over nigh" success and magic ticks. Even the Awesome big Chris is working hard for his success, am I correct Chris? did you just worked hard when you started so now you can really kick back? I feel that internet marketers need to keep inventing themselves (like Madonna LOL)To get advantage on there competitors.
