The NEW (and Wealthier) Fitness Entrepreneur
Fitness Business and Marketing Guest Post by Dr. Kareem F. Samhouri, CSCS, HFS – Neuro Metabolic Fat Loss & Fitness Expert
The way I see it, we've got 2 primary responsibilities as fitness pro's.
1) Get people healthy.
2) Increase our authority as professionals & earn the respect we deserve.
It's our job to communicate our objectives to the world, grow our businesses, and improve lives. We need to stand as a united front. We need to educate both medical professionals and our clients alike. In order to do so, we need to constantly expand our knowledge, look to other fitness authorities for exercise advice and educational methodology, and refuse to settle for anything less than the ultimate respect.
It's a step-by-step process.
The best part about this process is that it's bound to result in a direct increase your income, a growth of your business, and an increase in respect within your community. You deserve this, and you need to wear it proudly.
I'm going to help you inspire change. I'm going to lead by example. I'm going to show you the way to create job security, stop chasing clients, and begin creating long-term wealth with your fitness business.
I want to help you grow. You're about to get stronger, become more knowledgeable in your craft, and avoid all of the mistakes I made along the way. There is a shortcut if you know what you're doing…
Let me explain:
Step 1: Perfect Your Craft
Perfecting your craft means that you're going to need to learn from the best. That's what I did. That's what I continue to do. You have to find mentors that you can trust, constantly seek advancing fitness knowledge, and open your mind to training methodologies that didn't exist when you first started.
Reading isn't enough anymore. There's more to it now… video, audio, manuscripts, training manuals, expert coaches, conferences, and, most importantly, modeling.
Every day you work someone out you should be learning something or applying a new principle. Just as you should do with any ad you create, you should be split-testing one training method against another until you've derived the best possible scenario and your clients are getting world-record results.
That's precisely what I've done with Double Edged Fat Loss – it's taken me years to develop a combination approach to fat loss training that's come to be known as the ‘Triple M Method For Rapid Fat Loss.' It took me even longer to figure out how to channel nervous system activity into every rep of every exercise, thereby stimulating maximal muscular contraction and assisting in rapid growth and development.
This is a result of split-testing until I developed a method that in my opinion is far superior to anything I could find on the marketplace. I'm now sharing this method with the whole world, and I'm doing it by teaching it once. This is excellent time leverage.
Remember time leverage – that's very important.
Step 2: Spread Your Message
Communicate your outcomes to everyone in your surroundings. It's not bragging, it's suggesting progress. Everyone wants to know that you're working to progress at all times, but there's no way they'll know unless you tell them.
It's your responsibility to tell everyone you know, every doctor in your area, and every client that you're training every single time you discover something new. In doing so, your message will spread, and so will your referrals.
Currently, I have a 170% referral rate, on average, from my clients. I don't mean this to brag, but simply to inspire. Do each one of your clients refer at least one client to you, on average?
If not, you're probably leaving a bunch of money, and your pride, on the table… Stay proud. Convince everyone you're in this for the long haul and they'll support you along the way…
Step 3: Create Multiple Streams Of Fitness Income
Now that you've figured out how to produce world-class results, it's time to spread your message world-wide. Create information products. Teach others. Help us grow as a field.
The best part?
You're only starting to experience the benefits of multiple streams of fitness income. The more ‘Expert-Level' information you possess, the wealthier you will become, and the more streams of income will develop.

Here are a few examples of ways to develop multiple streams of fitness income, beginning today:
a) Hire more instructors – pay them commissions, and give them incentives to find more clients. Certify them in your method and market their certifications, thereby increasing your authority.
b) Semi-private training for client retention. After a client finishes training with you, personally, invite them back to help you workout others. Create leaders out of them, and allow them to attend for a fraction of the cost. They'll be proud to be there, and you'll be able to charge more money per hour while training 3-5 others at the same time. Semi-private training is far superior to one-on-one training for the fitness business owners and there's about 73 reasons why. The key is to just to do it. They get it in shape and you make $200 or $300 per hour. Everyone wins.
It's pretty much a no brainer… If you'd like to earn five or more times as much as the typical fitness trainer and be able to work part time hours if you want, then I HIGHLY recommend you get into group ( semi-private ) training
Group trainers can make $100,000.00 to $250,000.00 per year and can often do it working only 20 or 25 hours a week. Along with boot camps, it is by far the most profitable way kind of fitness training business to have.
c) Medical referrals. This one is easy. So long as you can create a new relationship with one doctor in your area per month, you will have a constant flow of new clients for the life of your business. Eventually, you'll be able to hire trainers to fill these hours and take over some of your clients. Doctors need your help, so start with this one as early as possible.
d) Bootcamps – you've probably heard this already, so no need to elaborate here, but be sure to follow Chris's stuff if you're not sure how to get your Bootcamp up and running in the fastest way possible.
e) Workout-At-Home DVD's – this can be done on a flip camera and burned onto DVD's. Every client you train should be offered a ‘home workout' DVD that they can play in their computer or DVD player and feel that you're with them on ‘off days.' This way, you're working even when you're not working, and you're building relationships at the same time. Plus, they'll show their friends…
f) Create an info product – Seriously, you've gotta create info-products if you want the ideal lifestyle… and the easiest way to do this is by modeling off of an already successful info product like Double Edged Fat Loss.
Study it, and then make money off it.
Fitness Info Marketing is the coolest gig in the world
Why?
Well let me quote Big Chris McCombs on that one… here's what he has to say…
"Here's just a few of the reasons it's the best gig in the world…
- You get paid for what you know… not for the hours you work
- You create an info-product once and you get paid over and over
- There's more free time in fitness marketing than any other gig in the world… seriously, you probably know I used to be a pretty successful marijuana trafficker ( back when it was illegal like everywhere except Holland)… I had a TON of freedom when I was in that business ( except after I got popped and served some time) … well the freedom of being a drug trafficker doesn't even come close to that of being an info-marketer…you work where you want, when you want and as little or much as you want.
I typically take a month or so off a few times a year and it doesn't hurt my income at all… in fact sometimes my biggest months are those when I'm on vacation… and even when I do work it's rarely more than a few hours a day. Take Vince Delmonte… here's a dude who has SO MUCH freedom… he's always traveling… going on crazy adventures… and pretty much doing whatever he wants all from his little muscle building info products…and the dude is SKINNY!!! Craig Ballantyne… he's another dude that always seems to be off traveling cuz of his success with his Turbulence Training ebook and products. Information marketers have freedom like trust fund babies… except info-marketers create their freedom out of thin air doing something they are passionate about.
- Information Marketers are renegades… we play by our own rules and create our own realities… it's the coolest group of people in the world… and once you're in you feel like you've discovered some secret society that only about .000001% of the population even know exists.
- You can typically keep about 80-90% of your profits because the overhead is so low.
- You end up developing a cult-like following of fans who will buy pretty much EVERYTHING you put out.
- Most info marketers I know make between a HIGH six-figures a year and seven figures… some making a HIGH seven figures ( I know a few who make nine figures a year, and tons who make eight figures a year.. MUCH more than I do… I'm lazy and don't wanna work too much, those dudes typically put in 40 or 50 hours a week which is far beyond my taste… but hey… they're killing it).
And if you only want to spend just a little time on it…like an hour a day… you CAN STILL DO WELL
- Everyone else ends up thinking you're real cool, it's weird… I mean you'll have a few haters, but besides them ( and most of them are just jealous)…there's a weird level of respect you get when you make a high six or seven figures a year working a few hours a day marketing your own line of ebooks, dvd sets, cd courses, mastermind groups and membership sites… It's like information marketing gurus are treated like some kind of hero or celebrity or something ( when deep inside you know you're just an average knuckle head lucky enough to have discovered how to become a fitness marketer). I'll admit, this one takes awhile to get used to.
- Fitness Information Marketing is recession proof… just about every information marketer I know is killing it right now… most doing better now then they we're before the economy took it's lil' down turn… info-marketers simply aren't affected by the economy… our businesses just kinda seem to grow and grow ALMOST effortlessly… it really trips me out.
- I could go on and on but you get the point"
When it comes to why info marketing is the best gig around, I always though Big Chris nailed it with the little spiel of his
g) Promote as an affiliate for other info products – this only shows your clients how much you care about them when they graduate, increases your income, and teaches everyone in your surroundings that you're still studying others' method. It's a win-win.
Step 4: Teach Others How To Do The Same
At first, learn and implement as much as you can
Next, improve… Do it better. Create your own method based upon what you've learned and what you knew already.
Third, sell your method.
Lastly, help others. Spread this. Goodwill is mandatory.
We deserve the respect we have for one another.
It's time for change.

Thanks for all the info Chris, your blog is second to none. My comment for this product is negative because to me it looks very gimmicky. First one one here that I thought that about. I could be wrong, but it screams I just want your money more than trying to solve someones problem and asking for money in return.

The only problem with being an info marketer is figuring out what to say on the elevator when someone asks what you do. My favorite so far: "Cubicle Escape Artist".
Great posts. Info marketing is the best.
