A Guest Blog Post by David Peterson
Hey there it’s Big Chris, enjoy this blog post from one of my coaching and consulting clients David Peterson about building win/win relationships with local businesses to help grow your training business…
So everyone knows that it totally builds credibility around the community and can get you tons of leads and referrals when you can network with the small businesses around town, well that’s all good, but how the heck do you get in there and get yourself started?
What’s a good step one?
Well, here’s a guide to build a relationship that benefits both of you and costs you nothing…
First you have to find a small business in town (not a franchise that often has lots of prohibitive rules) that would be frequented by your target demographic and fits within the fitness mentality, so something like a local cafe could work, but a dunkin’ donuts isn’t your best bet.
Now you want to become somewhat familiar with the business and meet the owner. In my experience this is best done as a customer first, you don’t want to go in there asking for something right away as its a great way to get yourself a big fat “no”.

Hey there, it’s Big Chris here and I hope you’re doin’ great… this is the post where I reveal all the in’s and out’s of my new Virtual Mentoring Program
I actually just got back from a heavy box squat and good mornings workout, and while performing a set of heavy good mornings in PERFECT form, one of the trainers at the gym, an ambitious young lad of about 152 pounds and 20 years old…. and looking like he could only bench press about half his weight… decided to approach me and school me on the fact that one shouldn’t bend over that far when doin’ a set a “squats” as it could hurt your back…
…keep in mind, I was doin good mornings, NOT squats… so I informed him that I was actually doin’ an exercise called “Good Mornings” to help build up my posterior chain… and he looked at me like I was speaking Chinese, not only had he never heard of a good morning, but he had no idea what the hell this elusive sounding “posterior chain” thing was I was referring to… I think he thought I was talking about a part on my Harley or something…. maybe the thing that makes the wheels go round.
.. ahhhh, gotta love the hiring standards of the big corporate gym chains. And the balls he had to approach a man twice his size, with veins popping outta my forehead and Motorhead cranking on full blast in the headphones, to give me a little schooling in “exercise science” with the hope of getting a “consultation session” and maybe even “sell a package” of 10 personal training sessions to me…. God Bless him, his heart was in the right place, unlike the hiring practices of the gym he was working for.
Ok, sooooooo….

A Fitness Marketing Guest Post by Sako Yakinian
Part 6 of the ‘Operation Cool’ Series
Hey there, it’s Big Chris… welcome back to Planet Kick Back, where the top 1% of the fitness industry chills out and has a good time making huge sums of money, while helping a ton of people, and where success happens with ease and freedom is the standard
Here’s a post one of my coaching clients Sako just sent me…loaded with some cool business building tips for your fitness business
Since working with Sako, he’s done some INCREDIBLE things in his business, and he’s gonna share some pretty cool strategies with you here in this post. When I first started working with him he was stuck doin’ one on one training all day for not much pay, now he’s making six-figures and has multiple trainers working under him running his boot camps
BTW I’m opening up The Virtual Mentoring Program that everyone’s been asking about to a limited number of trainers in the very near future… and it’s my best program to date.

A Fitness Business and Marketing Post by Big Chris
—————————————————–
Part Four in The Operation Cool Series…
Part One – Mushrooms, Vegas and Head Stuff — Part Two – BIG Mistakes
Part Three – The BMF Factor — Part Four – Key Elements — Part Five – Coming Soon
Part Six – Coming Soon
—————————————————
Hey there, welcome to Planet Kick Back, where the top 1% of the fitness industry chills out and has a good time making substantially more money ( while helping a ton of people) than the other 99% of the fitness industry who are doing things backwards, where success happens with ease, freedom is the standard and naysayers, whiners and close-minded “know-it-alls” are turned away and purposely offended as quickly as possible… they make HORRIBLE customers so it’s best for all of us if they just go on their way as quickly as possible. ( BTW, I suggest you do the same in your own business as well, maybe not using the same in-your-face tactics I’m known for using, but having systems to weed them out as early as possible, before they prove to the be pain in the ass that they usually end up being… I’ll talk about how you can do this in this post… along with a TON of other super cool stuff )
This is Part Four in a new series I’m doin’ on the blog here called “Operation Cool” … giving you the most powerful strategies, road maps and tactics you can use in your life and business… for free… to hit the level of success many of us are already enjoying here at Planet Kick Back… that the rest of industry doesn’t even think is possible.
Now, I wanna be upfront with you here…

A Fitness Business Post by Big Chris
Hey there, hope all is goin’ well in your little corner of the world
This blog post contains some very eye-opening mistakes that almost every training business is making, often times WITHOUT even knowing it.
Mistakes aren’t bad, in fact it’s how we learn… often times the most successful people are the ones most willing to make mistakes… it’s what we do with those mistakes that matter…. in marketing, we call them “test results”, not mistakes
And man, I’ve made my share of… uh… test results. MAN have I made some test results.
Many of my private coaching clients faced these same problems and mistakes I’m gonna address in this post, and today their businesses are pumping. ( For the record though, I am no longer taking on private coaching clients .. every time I mention coaching, we get flooded with requests, and while I do appreciate all the interest, it’s just not something I’m gonna be doin’ right now )
Ok, back to what I was talking about…

A Fitness Marketing post by Chris McCombs
Hey there, hope you’re doin’ great… in this post I wanna share with you what I feel are a few of the biggest keys to succeeding in your fitness business… and it’s not what you think it’s gonna be…
I just rolled back into town and my little daughter Abber Dabbers A.K.A. Abalicious got pretty sick at the baby sitters while me and the wife were away… that’s her over on the right looking like pure misery
Poor lil’ thing
She’s actually handling it better than I usually do, my wife says I’m a big baby whenever I get a “man cold” … and I can’t disagree
Anyhow… check this out…
I just spent the weekend at the Hard Rock in Vegas with a few of the best marketing minds in the world… guys who do eight figures a year and help some of the biggest businesses in the world with their marketing.
The band ‘Wide Spread Panic’ was playing, they’re a Grateful Dead type band, and the place was packed with dreadlocked hippies frying their asses off on mushrooms and LSD… good times.
It’s been a long time since I’ve consumed those kinda goodies… brought back a lot of memories… some good…. and well… some just downright weird.
The weekend was part business and part vacation… which usually how I like to run things anyway.
Now I don’t gamble… cuz I always seem to lose, but between masterminding and a little private consulting I’m doin’ with the one of the marketers there I’m in for about over $67,000.00…. now some people would say I’m crazy for spending that kind of money on just a few days of masterminding and consulting, but I don’t look at it like that.
It’s not like throwing down money at the craps table where sometimes you win and sometimes you just flat out lose
You see…
For one, every single time I’ve invested in info-products and big ticket masterminds and coaching I’ve gotten my money back somewhere between 10 and 100 times over, usually closer to the latter. There are always people out there who’ve done what we wanna do, and they can show us the shortcuts and save us years of frustrations and hundreds of thousands of dollars by giving us the map to EXACTLY how they did it. And the smarter ones of us are MORE than happy to pay for those maps.

A Fitness Marketing Guest Blog Post by Kal Gunay
Hey it’s Big Chris here, I just got this guest blog post from one of my coaching client Kal Gunay…. a super interesting guy, he’s probably one of the lowest maintenance coaching clients I have, meaning I don’t get updates and questions from him as often as I many of my other coaching clients, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t taking massive action and kicking a lot of ass
Anyhow, here’s the post Kal just just sent me… I let him take it from here…
Hey there, hope you and your fitness business are doing awesome
I’m really stoked to share with you how I went from slaving away IN my personal training business 9 months ago, to up and leaving it for the beach, now physically being at the business just once every 2 months!
If you’ve followed Big Chris for a while, you probably know that he ONLY does the most important 5% of tasks that move his business forward… everything else gets outsourced to a bunch of different people.
But before I hired Chris as a coach, I was doing the complete opposite of him… if I wasn’t training a client, I would take the time to learn html and css so I can build my site, figure out how to use photoshop so I could design logos and websites, handle all the insurance and legal junk, stamp mailers out individually and go stand in line at the post office just to send them out… it straight-up sucked!
As for the actual 5% that I was supposed to be taking care of… I hired a salesperson, copywriter and marketer to do that cuz I was too busy handling the “necessary stuff”. Talk about handling my business ass-backwards! Not only did that mentality cost me a ton of money, but I had no time, no energy, and walked around pissing and moaning all day.
The point is this, if you’re spending all your time IN and not ON your business, not only is it costing you money, but you’re probably going to burn out hard.
If you ask me, now, the true essence of a business isn’t how many clients you have or how much money you’re pulling in… it’s whether the systems you have in place, if any, are set up to bring you in money whether you’re actually present or not, allowing you time to do whatever you want.
For me, it was chasing my dream of living by the ocean, being able to surf, play volleyball, start new businesses or whatever I wanted as long as I can check in with my staff from where ever whenever.
With that, I put together some absolute “Must-have’s” to be able to walk away from your business, either for a couple of months at a time or for good! My hope is that you get some killer material to use right away to free you up from the grind and get you time to do whatever it is you really want to do

A Fitness Business and Marketing Guest Post by Zach Hunt
1. Marketing your local fitness business online is pretty sweet
When it comes to marketing your local training biz, nothing is easier and more automated then an high-converting, high-traffic and highly-social-proofed website.
While it may take a bit of work on the front-end (unless you know these tricks), it is certainly well worth it. There’s no better feeling seeing clients “come to you” rather then going and having to feel like you have to find clients on a regular basis.
With a high-converting website out there with tons of optimized terms optimized for your local market, tons of paid traffic going to squeeze pages and tons of traffic coming from email blasts, and every other form of traffic for your website you can pretty well feel at peace (not have a single worry about where the next client comes from)
Reminds me of when I first started the training biz (although not really). I remember sitting in my office (at my parent’s house at that time) and just thinking I registered my business license and now clients should come seeks me out, right?
Well now I do that and clients really do seek me and my training biz out..
Had a client call in just the other day and ask is this is the studio that “Zach Hunt” owns.
