A Fitness Marketing and Personal Training Business Post by Chris McCombs
Hey there, hope you’re doin’ awesome
I just got back from a great workout… super-setted pull-ups and shoulder presses ( at 320 pounds pull-ups are always a good time), and did barbell shrugs ( sets of 8 with 535lbs strict) and finished of with some arm and grip work for good measure
I’m glad I own businesses that pretty much run themselves so I can go to the gym in the middle of the day when it’s empty… I almost always use the power rack and that damn thing is always taken during prime time hours.
Anyhow, my support staff gets the following question from readers ALL THE TIME… and even though I’ve addressed it to different degrees before, I figured I’d lay it out as simple as possible for you here today…
It goes like this…
“I just left the corporate big-box gym I was training at to break off on my own, and I want to make six-figures a year training, what should I do?”
Well, the best answer is actually “Read all my blog posts, buy all my shit, and take massive action on it, and let NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING get in your way”
That’s actually the best answer to the question, however, let me give you another, more detailed answer… and this can actually help you hit not just six-figures, but a HIGH six-figures or even seven figures…

Fitness Marketing Guest Post By Zach Hunt
Hey what’s up? Hope you’re having an awesome day…
I was just looking over my client sheet for this week so far and was pretty pleased, looks to be 7 new clients so far this week. I like those numbers. And those numbers look even better when I know my client retention is rock solid.
Check this out, for every well qualified prospect that comes in and does the two week trial, they end up staying on average 10-24 months, quite a few of them for many years to come.
That’s pretty good for peace of mind.
I don’t have to worry about constantly plugging the leaking bucket with new clients just to keep at a consistent income.
It’s been quite awhile since I had a lot of turnarounds in my client base

Have you ever done something really dumb? If not, that kinda sucks.
We all know that we learn the most through experiences– whether good or bad– and that goes for all the mistakes we make too.
As personal trainers and boot camp owners we are all so focused on Craigslist, article-writing, honing in our skills, or anything else you can think of that takes up most of our time.
That stuff is all great… in fact it’s all crucial to keeping our businesses alive and making them thrive, but a lot of times we miss the blatantly obvious things that we should be doing to make our jobs of marketing our business that much more effective.
Just off the top of my head I can think of a few REALLY dumb things that I have done lately that when tweaked (or potentially tweaked) could turn into some major increased profits, increased retention, or major time and effort savers.
Don’t feel bad. At the end of the day, we are all do some pretty dumb things . I consider myself a very smart dumbass, but that doesn’t mean that I am immune to doing stupid sh*t just like the rest of the world.
I’ve outlined below a few of my major blunders and how hopefully you can learn from my dumbass-a-liciousness. (Yes I make up words sometimes)…

A Fitness Marketing Post by Chris McCombs
Hey there, hope you and your training business are rockin’ along
Ya know, the fitness training industry can be pretty weird. It’s one of the industries where most of the people live month to month and earn just a little more than your typical minimum wage worker… some make a good living.. and a few others friggin’ crush it and earn six and seven-figures.
One of the problems is a lot of trainers tend to complicate things when trying to build their fitness business and then get overwhelmed and have no idea where to start… so usually they don’t do anything ( besides train clients ) to build their business.
I’ve gone ahead and broken down some of the most simple steps you can use to get your business to the six or even seven-figure level.
Now, if you’re one of my coaching clients and are hitting a high six or seven-figures then you’re probably already doing all this stuff… but if your new or your business isn’t quite where you want it to be yet, then you’ll definitely wanna go through this list and get started taking action right away…

Bootcamps are da bomb… yeah, I know.
They allow you to work far less and earn far more. You also get the privilege of being able to help many more people than would otherwise be possible. These are all enormous plus sides.
But guess what? It gets even better…

Hey there, hope you’re doing awesome
Here’s some strategies to help you keep clients for years and years… and help you dramatically increase your fitness training income…
First and foremost always look at the lifetime value of a client… NOT the session or hour or package… LIFETIME VALUE
If you can keep a client for 24 months instead of 2 months, your profitability goes up 12 times without ANY extra effort, marketing, sales or without any extra cost. That’s a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Not only is keeping clients longer put more money in your pocket, but it also helps because…

According to Webster’s Dictionary the definition of a team is “a group on the same side, as in a game” and “a group organized to work together.”
I guess most people know what a team is, and honestly these definitions are kind of lame. I love the word team though- it brings me back to my days as an athlete. Team was everything; especially in college because you were truly stuck with those people whether you liked it or not.
When I played college basketball we always had to come back to campus before the other students during winter break because we’d have practices and games. The dorms were not open, just the senior apartments, so when I was a freshman and sophomore we had to bunk up in the upperclassmen apartments, like 5 of us to a bedroom or something crazy like that.
It sucked, a lot, because we were sore and tired from 3 hour practices twice a day and we had to go sleep on the floor. And we probably got into a little scrap with our teammate on the practice floor and we had to go hang out with them all day because we had nowhere else to go. After this break we were so sick of each other and a little bit sick of basketball as well because all we did was play, eat and sleep.
But in the end you know what happened?
Everyone went to battle for each other. It’s a weird thing, this teammate bond, but it’s true.
It’s so hard to put into words if you have never experienced it but it’s the coolest thing ever. Especially in women’s sports because we all know that women can be a little “testy.”
One day you hate each other and the next day you are scooping that person up off the floor when they fall, pushing them past their limits when they are tired, celebrating in incredible victories together, and crying in heartbreaking defeats.

Hey there, hope you’re doing awesome…
As you probably know Bedros Keuilian’s Fitness Business Summit 2010 is just around the corner.
( You can learn more about The Summit by clicking here by the way )
More successful fitness entrepreneurs and trainers attend The Summit each year than any other event in our industry’s history.
It’s fun, loaded with the most up to date cutting-edge strategies to help you build your fitness business, and it’s hands down the #1 event in the world where you can network with other business minded fitness entrepreneurs… almost all the top guys are there.
In fact, if you make it to just one event this year, this is the one… trainers will flying in from all over the globe just to be there… and for good reason…
Trainers who go to The Fitness Business Summit and apply just a portion of what they learn become more and more successful every year. ( There are countless success stories and case studies of trainers who’ve gone to past Fitness Businesses Summit’s and ended up growing their training businesses to high a six-figures and many times seven-figures over the course of the next 12 months.)
Now the opposite is true as well, trainers who DON’T go to The Fitness Business Summit will earn pretty much the same income year after year, and when the economy is bad, usually so is their business… they just don’t have the skills and strategies to succeed.
So for success minded fitness entrepreneurs like yourself, going to to The Summit is a no-brainer… no matter how far you have to travel… if you want to succeed in your fitness business, go.
Just in case you have any questions… here’s eleven reasons why you don’t wanna miss Bedros Keuilian’ Fitness Business Summit this year…
